Anyone know why...

The only problem that I’m having with yoyoing is that i get hit… a lot
Im not sure if this is suppose to be normal but i get hit on my arm, figners, back of my hand, palm, elbow, and…
So if someone can help me figure the problem out, it would be appreciated

Arm and elbow gets hit because I would throw my sleeper and the yoyo would not go down all the way. It would come back and hit me. (got hit on my funny bone quite a few times…painful)
I didnt have a knot, the string was apparently stuck, the next throw fixed this -___-

next problem:
I would do tricks like triple or nothing, double on trapeeze, one and a half mount and the yoyo would either slow down really fast or snap back and hit which ever finger it is closer to. it does the same thing on black hops, when i hop, it would come back and hit me (not all the time tho) … but its fine on eli hops

Is it something that im doing wrong? my throw? the yoyo?
heres information that might help:
i throw sleeper on tricks most of the time. im not sure about this but i think it also hit me with breakaways. Uses x convict, and it is unresponsive. I tried using my friend’s lyn fury and i dont remember it hitting me hit the x convict (maybe i just got used to it)

it sounds like the string is catching on the o-rings… the x-convict features an adjustable gap, so try adjusting it until it seems right. When it is fully tightened, it will not hold many string wraps. As for the yoyo going halfway, work on your bind. There may be too big of a loop that the yoyo catches on on the first throw down. No substitute for practice. Hope this helps

You need to practice more and get your tricks smoother. Then you will not hit yourself as much.

That’s your yoyo snagging. I’ve got a bruised lip from my Hspin Icon once. Heheh

agreed, all things in time. after awhile you’ll just get a ‘feel’ for the yo yo…and your play may compensate accordingly. eventually it won’t really matter what setup your rollin’ w/…it’ll all just be yo yoin’.

w/ that said, i would stay w/ your current responsive setup. responsive play opens up so many doors down the yo yoin’ road…if you can stay the course.

rain…

it sounds like u hav an extremely responsive yoyo or the string gets caught alot on the response pads. u might want to look at getting an unresponsive yoyo or maybe if u want a less responsive responsive yoyo i would recomend the dark magic II good luck and have fun!

The only things that come to my mind that could cause that is either the yoyo or your throw. Im leaning more toward the yoyo though.

I noticed that string affects responsiveness (cotton/polyester), also, try lube (thin). You can try shaving the double o-rings too.

Practice your binds, try not to throw a lot of string into the gap when you are doing them. Also 100% poly string helps, or even fresh string for that matter. I change my string about every hour.

You might have tons of string tension. That usually the culprit of sissy knots or knots that disappear when you throw it.

I it also might just be karma. Have you gone around kicking babies, beating up old ladies or laughing at deformed, mentally challenged, or dead people if so stop because you’re going straight to heck.
-probably via your yoyo killing you.

i mean sometimes it hits me, then for a while it doesnt, then it does again…i guess this could be because the tricks arent smooth but idk…

strings: i have some cheap, i think cotton? but im getting some poly strings this week so that should be fun

yoyo… hmm would shims help? silicon to replace the o rings?

and karma: i will do some good deeds and c if that helped, ill get back to u on this

It’s probably something about your gap, response, or string. I’ve had the same problem breaking in the silicone in my new yoyo. Others have already given all the help I could give, though, so… Just sharing. I know how it feels though.

my string is actually slicing into my finger it dosent hurt yet but ive gotten hit everywhere by everywhere i mean “EVERYWHERE”

i never get hit

For the “knot” you get on a bind, try doing that particular bind and nothing else.Once you get used to the bind, you won’t be getting the “knot”. I’m not saying throw the yo-yo as hard as you can and then bind, that’ll bruise your palm, I know this from experience, sadly. The yo-yo flying back to your hand on tricks could be the gap of the yo-yo or the string rubbing the response. Check to see if the string is rubbing your response system. This could very well be causing the yo-yo to return unexpectedly. Hope I helped.

For hops, keep the string tight when hopping and it won’t snap back.

Ugh…I hate getting hit by die counterweights…

I’ve gotten hit in the hand, mouth and eye. But getting hit in the head is something i’ve learned from. now i can usually swing my head back in time before i get a concussion. I was yoyoing with my new icon on christmas and my aunt who is skeptical about the safety of flinging metal weights around on thin string walks by as my yoyo snags an flys by my face as i duck back and she says " that just about knocked your teeth out." And i just go “meh”

I once hit my funny bone with a snagging DM…

ok so i was looking at the xconvict and i noticed that its kinda unresponsive sometimes since i used that bearing for a while already. But when i tug on it, it would still come back up cuz all the strings would go into the gap and the yoyo would come back slowly. shim? oring problem? or strings?

ya same i got hit on my funny bone 3 times already, twice this week

Your problem is your gap is too narrow. Either shave the o-rings, remove them and replace them with Flowable or RTV Silicone, either way I still recommend red shims. That should leave your Victc unresponsive. I hope this post helps, have a good one.

omg same here
