I advise you to use you current yoyos to figure out what you need.

That’s the way I do it. Each day I understand a bit more and I search for something that fits my needs like more or less weight, diameter, width…

I’m in the same boat because no one I know throws either. Since I’m just getting into it, I don’t really know what shapes and weights work best for me, so I understand that it’s a bit of a gamble to just choose.

What I do is first browse the various yo-yos in the YYE shop. If something catches my eye, I check out the specs. Then I do a quick search on the forums to see what fellow throwers have said about it. Finally, I go to YouTube to watch reviews and unboxings.

The more research you do, the more likely you are to end up with something you’ll enjoy. In the event you hate your new throw, you can always return, exchange, or trade it.

Sounds like you’re taking steps in the right direction.
