Answers To Frequently asked questions(With the beginner yoyo player in mind)

Hey Erik, I’m not sure if you answered this on another page but how do you tell the difference between OD size pads and 19mm “standard” pads ??? (like thickness)

I actually do not know I’ve had that problem myself and it is really annoying. Your best bet would be to buy the pads that are meant for your yoyo o if its an OD just buy the OD pads if its CLYW buy Snpw tires etc.

OD standard flow groove =1.9mm thick
19mm slim pad=0.9-1.1mm
left:slim pad, right: standard flow groove

OD thin flow groove =0.5mm? (thiss almost an urban legend or crypto/pad/ology thing. only seen these 2 pics and i v no idea at all on which yoyos runs them. maybe some relic forms of .555 pad thickness)

Maybe I missing some simple thing. I’ve only been throwing a month or two. I mainly use the ButterflyXT and Omega Xodus2. For everything except a basic gravity pull I am getting horribly knotted up string after two returns even with fresh string. It wears on my patience to have to hang it and let the string go back to normal every 2-3 throws. Am I wrapping too tightly? Maybe all the string twisting and false knots are normal because the string IS getting quite a workout especially practicing things like forward mount, man on the flying trapeze, and binding on my RainbowT6. Any tips? Thank you in advance!

Well the thing is your using a butterfly that is definitely not helping especially if your doing binds and other string tricks. All the string twisting though is from a thing called “String Tension”. Now the best way to remove it in your situation is to just take the string of your finger and let it hang down to the floor. And then run your fingers down the string and you will see it starting to untwist and then you just do that until all the twists are gone.

But if you have some extra money I would highly recommend upgrading to something like a Replay Pro its only $16 and it gives you a ball bearing with it and that will help you do string tricks a lot better.

Good Luck.
