The average skew for Bimetal as opposed to monometal heavily favored bimetals, with 17/20 of the contestants using bimetals, or in the case of mir, trimaterials.

9/20 utilized 7-series aluminum, in that 7-series there was a 6/9 of the 7-series used 7075 over 7068.

9/20 utilized 6061 series aluminum

1/20 used titanium, and another 1/20 used an undisclosed material.

This gives 6061 a slight preference based on the split between 7068 and 7075.

This means the average yoyo used in the 2023 WYYC 1A division was a:

56.16x46.7075 Bimetal w/ a 6061 Body.

im too lazy to find the weight probably like ~66g or something.

Nice collection of data. Good stuff.

Did Jakub use the old Orbital though? I thought it was the GTX/GTX 2. Also, Yuta used the ASTer, not the MSG fyi.

For average weight, assuming Jakub used the GTX 2, I get 65.6g fwiw.

I think GTX for Jakub too since he join Empathy later after world 23, so best chance he used something he is familiar with. Also based on this pics it seems like like it

If we round the widths into nearest whole value categories, the distribution looks like this:

Yoyos in the 46" width category dominate, with 12 out of 20 being 46" or narrower. So while the average may be 46.75 (nearly 47"), the single most common width category by far is 46".

I expect this distribution to shift further and further to the right as the years go by.

Had several people (pros who were at worlds) tell me that Jakub used the GTX 1, I just forgot to add “gtx” lol

Would be cool if there was a way to average all the shapes and profiles of the yoyos to get an average shape too
