Noob question: What is the spike inside the cup for? Is it for… DNA?

I do not do DNA so i cannot answer on that front. An obvious answer is pull starts and matador tricks I guess…

It is a unique yoyo for sure!
As stated, spikes are used for matador style tricks which were always pretty limited. Pull starts and DNA also easily accomplished on a spike.
But mostly they just look dangerous and cool haha!
I love the Chaku and also the Tyrant. Look for exciting things coming from Alchemik in 2025 including a 7068 version of The Tyrant called The Talent at under $80 so everyone can get their hands on one!

The big matador spikes are a nod towards the 2005-2010 era throws and when i started yoyoing. All my dream yoyos back then had big spikes, the SPYYs 
it also used to cover the super long axles of the time.
But mainly, they look cool. It does pullstart very nicely too.
