ABC Gum on my yo-yo

Hello everyone anyone know what this is never seen this before. It looks like sadness to me.

I was on yo-yo expert forum a few days back and saw a one drop Fliker post of some new color ways I was excited to see a diorama in “ another weekend” colorway specific to Spingear Yo-yo website. It was worth the extra shipping, It is beautiful.
When I received the throw I was disappointed on both haves of the yo-yo there is a substance that I can only describe as a raised anodizing flaw that has the look and color of already chewed bubble gum, but is hard as stone and can not be removed or fade with a damp rag and moderate to aggressive rubbing. My finger nail under the rag can feel it but it will not budge.

I have written to Spingear, I do not write in or speak Japanese… so I do not know when I may get a response. I figure they are going to tell me, “ it is a OneDrop production take it up with them ”. So I have taken a moment to compose this email to OneDrop. Hope to hear from someone.

Has this been a problem for anyone else? Has anyone had good luck rectifying the situation. Hoped to bring this to the attention of OneDrop and Spingear

This is what I could get in a picture

Everyone have a great start to the week

That substance is the mask they use for doing the splash anodizing patterns. Looks like some got left behind somehow.

Is this something that can be removed with out damaging the anodizing underneath? I really would rather have the diorama with out the ABC gum accent color just in another weekend colorway.

You should be able to rub it off. If it’s stuck in pretty hard some acetone will take it right off.

Acetone, off to look for some. Awesome thank you

You could also try putting it in the freezer. That works for gum on sneakers and might work for this too.

Acetone worked thank you just a few areas of anodizing disruption and a rough spot. Thank you yoyospirit.

The already been chewed bubble gum looking stuff is masking it did come off with Acetone.

I still want a mint one

Thank you

Spingear got back to me. They offered full exchange for a mint “ another weekend “ Diorama and 20% return on what I paid.
Well the helpful people on the forum helped helped me fix the issue…. And now
I am going to keep this one. I have leaned something about anodizing masking and now this throw has a story so it has to stay.
It was late when email hit from Spingear.
I am going to send s follow up email to one drop now.

Thank for the support

Everyone have a great Monday Monday so good to me.

Glad you got that sorted - I have had the same issue in the past on a couple of throws, this is an Orca I bought back in the day. You can see it at the top of the inner cup. I took it off with brake cleaner and a plastic spudger.

EDIT - And here it is today.
