Has nobody who is bickering about the price seen sOmething brand by Hiroyuki?
His newest model is $840…
His standard non TI Anglam is $240…
I see anglams in FB and YYE bst’s quite often…
So people pay crazy prices with no care… lol
Oh and before someone is like “bUT tHeY’rE bI-mEtAL rEeEeeeEee”
Who cares… an extra pressed in piece of metal doesn’t raise the cost an extra hundred, two hundred, three hundred, etc.
Reading this thread, I agree with everything you’ve said.
I find it somewhat underhanded for people to go on and on and on and on about the price. Don’t buy it then; those who did buy, don’t want to hear the sarcasm and whining. What’s the point? Are the complainers some kind of price “hero”.
The fact of the matter is that people want to support some cool artists and their art. Very simple concept here. In reality, everyone could yo-yo just fine with a cheap magicyoyo.
Again, it’s about supporting artists and their art. Something that can be lacking in today’s world. Why do people want to stop this is beyond me.
Also, I’ve never bought an a-rt, but I think the Triptych is a pretty cool and novel idea. I really dig the look.
I agree with you. A little part of me agrees with glen that charging that much for an organic when I can buy an edgeless for almost a third of the price, but I do agree that jensen and charles have a big impact on the community with everything they do, and supporting them is a big deal to a lot of people.
Because they are usually monometal, easy to machine, and not typically very expensive? I have several organic throws, and the most expensive is an ILYY 2WEI, which despite its obscurity is $85. To be honest I expect a few high-end organics to start coming to the market soon because of their recent rise in popularity, but for the most part organics are usually relatively cheap unless they are made of titanium.
It’s not like they’re being hand turned on a lathe. Honestly, with today’s CNC machines, most yoyos are just as easy to make, some shapes will just take a little more time on the machine.
It’s true that currently yoyo price is getting down, compared to back then (remember when you need to spend $125 for YYF and $150 for CLYW).
The thing is, some people in this community really appreciate the effort, idea, and each second used by yoyo companies for creating a new product. It’s not just one or two steps before they decided a final design.
And back to A-RT, their contribution for this community is hugeee. They revolutionized the concept of casual play and organic-shape throws design. They are producing high quality product (you can see how fast their product soldout). Triptych is a fresh idea in yoyo design (the inlay filled with paint), and it plays amaziiing.
So don’t blame those people who bought it. We support the artists and their contribution to this small (but solid) community.
I’m standing outside a Bakery. There are about 8 people to my left; looking through the glass display windows.
They are mumbling about how this Polly Ann’s Bakery is the best in town. And then… the Negativos. That special squad that has no real interest in ever buying expensive items; so they just have to chime in and whine about what else they could get for less. And why would others buy this stuff when they could go across the street to the Chinese Bakery and save some money.
Some people that wouldn’t buy the stuff anyways; because they are on a budget or have other priorities for spending their money(for bills and other silly stuff🙀).
Some people that can’t afford to travel to Canada to push Jensen and Charles around in person. So it’s just easier to question their pricing of items; from behind a keyboard.
Don’t recognize what they have contributed to Yoyo play. No special considerations because they exist in our World of Yo and have established a unique way of looking at things that may spur additional creativeness in our pastime.
Simply remove the emotion, respect and appreciation of their efforts in offering yoyo designs evolved from their thoughts and experiences.
What’s the point?
If you don’t like the prices on the Menu; do not go into the Restaurant and whine about it.
Go get some Fortune cookies and read the directions. The little papers will help you shape your future.
I bought a purple Tryyyp… And by the way; that Best Bakery is 7 blocks from my house. They are expensive. And people come from hours away to buy their products. And they sell out of almost everything; every single day.
I don’t think this is the appropriate analogy here as you’re not paying for better quality. It’s more like one bakery is owned by your friend so even though you can buy from another bakery and get similar quality you’d rather support someone you care about. Which is understandable but doesn’t mean that many people will see a reason to buy the more expensive product without that personal attachment.
Life would sure be boring if we All thought exactly the same way; wouldn’t it?
My view is food for thought.
You will not find my views etched anywhere in the Bible.
I feel it is a good thing to have as many views as possible.
And when the jury comes back into the room; the majority turns out to be on the same page.
And then again; maybe not.
When I see somebody pay $110,000,000 for a painting of a daffodil; I consider that often; the price of things is not as much what something may be worth compared to something else.
But more about what something you want is worth; to have it end up in your mailbox.
I agree with that. I think their anti-competition releases have increased the desirability for more organic designs and so other companies has done that also. I think it’s a really good thing. It was difficult to find a new release organic yoyo in 2014.
I like the bakery on the other side of the street. They provide me with delicious goods at bargain prices. But I appreciate the bakery you’re talking about because it’s nice to splurge and get the real dope stuff every now and again.
I agree with your sentiments 100% and I don’t mean to dissuade anyone who may be interested from getting one. I figure if someone is the target consumer for a yo-yo like this my opinion won’t really matter to them, they know what they want already.
I just bought two more of a yo-yo I really like because I wanted more. Other people would probably say that’s a waste of money because I already have one, but I will play those two yo-yos way more than the yo-yos I sold to purchase them.
I can definitely see the Tryptych being worth more than its price to a lot of people for numerous good reasons. I just don’t happen to be one of those people. Also I honestly just enjoy a good back and forth on any given topic I have thoughts about and I appreciate that there are people like you who also share contrasting thoughts.
I’m really glad to hear that your son is enjoying the Survivalist @Benmichael86. A yoyo is far more valuable in a child’s hands than in an adults. Sure, kids will beat a yoyo to death sooner or later, but they really love and treasure them.
I feel like I should apologise. When I disagree with others here on something I tend to do it pretty vehemently. It isn’t intended to squash people down or anything, but I can see how it upsets people.
