Ok I gotta ask…. Why do people like the zombie faced kid on their yo-yo? Is it just because the guy drew it? Cuz I personally am not a fan… I see em go for crazy amounts too… NO OFFENSE… always confuses me because I find the solid colors in their yo-yos look fantastic

I believe it’s called a dink-face and it is a pretty iconic image in the yoyo world made by Jensen Kimmett. The style has taken multiple forms over the years, but it’s just a fun thing that he did on some of his yoyos. Their packaging also included a paper wrapping with a pencil drawing of a dink-face. I think the increased value is from the fact that Jensen painted them himself. It’s like a more personal and unique autograph.

jensen and charles and Tyler, it seems, took these yoyo to the 2017 Worlds, which I suspect may have been sold to some of the people on the floor.

This life and grail both have seen some battle
I try to be more careful now. Little story; craziest part about these both they were actually gifted to me by a close friend and true yoyo Jedi, cam Jorgeson, the man that got me into yoyo and has actually given me 3 throws. He might say I earned them. First a plastic speedaholic, and I think once he started to see how instantly obsessed I became, he gave me my first metal yoyo, the life, and yeah I dinged the hell out of it because I literally learned everything I know on this that thing. I completely wore the pads out in 2 years of organic obsessed ritual. Once I was throwing that much, he gave me the grail cause he’s insane. A true legend living for the passion of the throw. Basically I owe him a couple a-rt’s in my head but it’s more just a story of passion cause I swear to god I love those yo yo’s at an insane level.
My passion for throwing grew rapidly. It came at a time in my life where I was kind of spent on literally everything else including addiction/alcoholism. It somehow fit my personality having grown up skateboarding and drumming like an animal, but always with a precise definition of elegance and intention. And by process of elemination of styles of throwing and companies that just didn’t resonate with me as a person, led me to a-rt. And to be truthful I hella resonated with those boys and the way they ran their brand and what they stood for and still do.

That a pretty cool story and those yoyos are an awesome part of it.
Sounds like those throws were well earned. Maybe one day, if you teach some how to throw, you can continue the tradition.
