5A

I hear people talk about yoyos that are “good for 5a” or are “built for 5a.” What makes a yoyo good for 5a other than tying a counterweight to the end?

Thanks!

For me, stability. I tend to make the yoyo lean a bit doing 5A.

Id say more that it was developed using 5a play for feel vs 1A. There are so many different preferences even within style.

One that feels nice to catch when you can only use your index and thumb instead of your whole palm.

Usually it is going to be stability and spin time. It sort of depends on the type of 5a tricks you will be doing but spin time and stability are pretty key. Nowadays a lot of yoyos are stable and spin forever so the rest comes down to small preferences in shape.
