As an Ohioan, very sad it’s not in Cleveland lol.. I went to my first Yoyo event in 24’ which happened to be worlds.. and it’s was like 2-3 hours from my house lol

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe they can’t use the word “yoyo” in canada due to trademark

Looks like you are correct. Thanks to Papa’s Toy Co. Ltd. of Toronto, every participant will be spending the entire contest referring to yo-yos as Return Tops. I assume this especially applies to printed branding / marketing for the contest. Don’t get sued, small vendors!

exactly, as Canadian brands have always done, CLYW and when SPYY was still around, they always called themselves with the acronym without ever using the full name yo-yo

It would be funnier if all the brands did some Malicious Compliance and redacted any mention of YoYo. Put some black tape over the “yoyo” in your yoyoexpert shirts…

but yeah someone trademarked yo-yo here (weird how its still enforceable here after the duncan one expired AND the word yo-yo is like the definition of generic) and the company makes the absolute WORST fxxxing yoyos youve ever thrown in your life. theyre like a joke. theres no response and the gap is like a full centimeter. they sell them at the dollar store and nobody buys them. i believe this is single-handedly responsible for the brutal falloff of yoing in canada
usa and canada are almost literal twins
