I only feel somewhat bad for people who got multiple boxes. It was discussed a few times that the boxes are likely to each contain the same thing. Anyone who thought there were a whole bunch of different boxes had the wrong idea from the start. Last year there was slight variation (Genesis vs. Equilateral?) but other than that… and the previous year, only colourway differences.
Not a good gamble to get multiple $50 boxes expecting a variety of items.

I’m no opening mine until Christmas, but if it’s a standard box with a shaqlerstar, I’ll trade for a gravitsky protostar. I’ll put something in the BST if it happens that way. I’m absolutely down for swapping for variety.

I disagree. I wouldn’t have bought a Regen even after playing it for any more than $20 bucks. I would never buy a protostar or a kendama. People are entitled to be disappointed with their purchase, its the benefit of being a consumer. Its hard not to be when last year you got so much more for a $50 box. I understand you wanting to defend them but for some it may be lousy and not hyperbole. I wasn’t looking so much for material as much as some color in my box. I not only get yoyo’s for play, but for looks too, and I love colors. I think those $200 boxes are well worth the money tho, I will go for one of those next year.
I think the problem is that so much was expected because of last years boxes. It isn’t going to take me broke, and in the end, I will just buy whatever yoyo I want. I posted mostly because I think it is important to give accurate feedback as to how you feel with a purchase. I think people should be honest as to how they feel about the boxes, don’t you?
^^ Well said, too, Mrjackthepoodle. You are indeed entitled to your disappointment and if you don’t share, how would they be able to know if adjustments are needed for next time?

Thanks, that’s quite a haul! The gold Space Cowboy is awesome, truly a collector’s piece. I also noticed you got 2014 cards, my $100 box had the 2013 set in it - in fact, when you look across all 3 boxes, no duplicates in any of them so if you bought all 3 no disappointment (just a slightly slimmer wallet).
I don’t get why so many people think that a yoyo with deathgrip spacers on the bearings is “great”, I mean most of the times you have to damage it just to lube it, that’s not even “good” IMO.
With a ReGen and a Shutter/CZM8/TooHOT it would still be better… and it’s just $90 worth stuff (you can even it with some strings, bearings, whatever).

shutter, too hot, and czm8 are all good sellers, yoyofactory has no reason to put it in the box.
thats why they put protostars and shqlrs. they have so many they need to unload.
just because two items are the same value doesnt mean they can be interchangeable, the one that doesnt sell as well will always be the first choice at being in the box.

?? The CZM8 was even in the $100 box, they just didn’t want to ruin the plastic theme they had going on in the $50 boxes.

The video shows an easy removal but many times it’s much more difficult ('cause its really stuck) to remove and you end up damaging either the spacer, the bearing or both.
Yes you should definitely be honest, but “this box sucked” is far from helpful criticism.
Also I don’t defend people. I simply feel this deal isn’t as bad as many make it seem.

Even the people that are saying wonders of the box don’t seem to want to buy it for the price we paid.

Definitely no Equilateral or Genesis with a Proto or Shaqler which was an amazing deal btw but still easily worth over $50.
That said, wtf do I do with a Kendama? I wanted yoyos…

Oh and the Stein signature thing plays like a Proto Yeti. Kinda funky and I don’t know if I like or hate it so far lol.
My guess is people don’t want to buy multiples, even if they’re happy with the pack they got. I’m definitely happy with having paid $50 for my box, but I’m not going to buy another.
Thats because they know the BST market. I want everything but the protostar in that box… but I know I can get it for less. Last year Genesis’ were hitting the market for TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS.
It isn’t unrealistic to expect to be able to get whatever was in the mystery box on the low in the coming weeks.
I’ll happily take a $50 mystery box off someone’s hands for $50 plus shipping to Ohio. I want another Catchy Air for my son, I’m digging the look of the new Gentry plastic, and I don’t think anyone can ever have too many Protostars/Northstars.
