I religiously keep my slipknot just below the first fold of my middle finger for both my hands. The slipknot position u pictured above is cursed.

I use it in middle finger top knuckle, just a tiny bit higher than @mable, I have done it from so long time that I have a callus there like the ones that come out grabbing a pen, I can post a photo but is not a good view.
Henry I think your one is crazy extreme to keep there, just go tiny bit down and you should be much more safe!
