YYF Titanium Confusion

Hi all- just wanted to leave a short review on my first ever titanium yo-yo, the Ti Confusion. Wow- what a pleasure this thing is to throw. I was able to save a little money and pick one up that was barely used and I have to say it was totally worth every penny.

I own the original aluminum confusion and a number of other metal responsive throws but this is my first Titanium throw. The difference between this and the aluminum version of the Confusion is significant. And much of an improvement. It’s heavy, but not too heavy, it spins beautifully and stable, and tends to sleep about 50% longer than the regular confusion.

Anyway- that’s basically all I wanted to say. I probably won’t be buying any other titanium yo-yos for a long time but I’m really happy this is my first one. It’s just downright incredible. It’s so good that I’d venture to say I would have been willing to pay full price had I not been able to find a used one.

Do any of you other players own one of these/have any thoughts or opinions on it?

I don’t own one, but I’ve wanted one since they came out. I’m not really interested in taking the risk at MSRP, but I think you did great getting a like new one at a discounted price. I envision it to be a great EDC.

Does it play responsive or unresponsive?

Also, props on the Mint General Snus, wish we could get everyone off cigarettes and dip and I to actual Swedish Snus for health reasons. Been using that brand and flavor ever since it hit the USA. (Disclosure, anyone under 18, I don’t advocate for tobacco use at all, but if any adults use it, I’d prefer the swap to Swedish Snus as studies have shown no link to cancer.)

I carry mine. I just spiced it up color wise :sunglasses:

I have my aluminum one in my car all the time.

We are restocking the aluminum too.

I don’t want this to be a pretentious collectible.

This one is for player :+1:t2:

Good to know. I might pick up another aluminum one. But man the Ti model is definitly distinctive

Ha nice it’s great to meet another Snus fan. They are far and few between in my area. This forum really is “my people”. I’ve come home!

It’s responsive.

I think this is one of yoyofactory’s best yoyos for its vision.

Thanks for the information. I was very curious about the titanium version.

It’s totally worth it in my opinion. A wonderful responsive yo-yo. A heavy hitter with a great balance between the modern and the retro.

What’s weird about the Ti Confusion is the decision to make it TEN GRAMS (!) heavier than the regular Confusion! Don’t believe me? Well, believe the frickin’ scale, then!

Alu confusion, 58g, Ti Confusion, 68g :warning:

They are roughly the same size and shape, but it’s hard to tell, I feel like the weight distribution may be a tad different, but TEN GRAMS heavier means this thing plays like a beast… so much momentum and power.

They are really two completely different designs. The Alu Confusion is very chill, awesome responsive, and the Ti Confusion is so much heavier .. it plays like a turbocharged supercar, you have to be careful you don’t hurt yourself or others with it, and you can go really, really fast (e.g. the monstrous inertia and spin power). I do wonder what they were thinking with this…

OK so I have some more data in my notes and I want to get it down here so everyone knows

Here’s all three “versions” of the Confusion, from left to right

  1. original with bump and short nubby axle 58g
  2. hubstackable" with center bump and longer thin axle 62g
  3. “hubstackable” with totally flat sides (no bump) 56g

It’s kinda hard to see from directly above but “hubstackable” means the previously fat, now thin axle also sticks quite a ways out so you can stack .. uh.. stuff .. on it! Let me show you:

Now that I look at it more, what @YOHANS told me “it was for the hubstacks” made sense.. they became increasingly “hubstackable” so the reduction in center weight from the “big nub plus bump” was kind of a (lol) Side Effect.. but an important one, because the reduction in center weight means it plays quite a bit better IMO.

I’m not sure what year each one was released, they didn’t label them (did they), but I’d actually avoid the middle 62g version, considering how much better the v3 plays at 56g and the more powerful weight distribution toward the sides..

The one you prefer is the Turbo Confusion with cork pads, right?

From what he and I have spoken about… he hasn’t tried the cork pad version yet. That one would be V.4 Confusion. I REALLY want to try one of those. I love, love, love the cork pad’s response.

I can confirm, the middle one is a little on the heavy side. Still fun, but heavy.

Aren’t all confusion turbos cork? :face_with_monocle:

Cork wears down too fast, is what I was told, silicone is more practical.

Haven’t thrown in a while but was throwing my Turbo Grind Machine pretty regularly and the cork looks good. I do know with age they will dry up. My Dragonfly’s cork pads have darkened and “hardened”…response still works and a bit of silicone grease in the bearing still gets me a playable Dragonfly.
