Dude, you don’t need to be an *** about it.
ok maybe that was a little harsh, no need to be name calling tho, I’ve been one of the more conserved ones in this post.
I read through a large amount of this thread but could not finish.
I started to feel sick.
Zorro, and everyone else who is trying to imply that these companies are scumbags for making a $150 dollar yoyo, I dare you to produce 10 yoyo models by yourself.
10 models, however many yoyos you think you need.
Now I dare you to sponsor one player. And hire one artist. And buy one CAD program. And hire one machinist. Everything else you might need, just get one.
Now that player? He has to pay rent for his apartment and get food on his plate. That machinist? He has a family to feed too. You are supporting all these people by producing your 10 yoyo models. You also have yourself and your family.
Now I dare you to keep that company alive, and make sure everyone is living well.
if there was a like button i’d like this.
The peak sold for $115, now thy go for $200+, it’s our fault the prices are so high now.
It’s worth more to collectors. That’s not our fault. It’s what a collector is willing to pay.
The reason Clyw raised the price because they knew they could still sell their yoyos.
CLYW didn’t raise the price of the Peak directly. If you’re talking about their current models yes but the Peak is a different story.
I treat the thank you button the same way as a like button
It is not CLYW selling them at $200, it’s the people who still own the peak from long ago. It is super rare, so naturally it is worth more. This goes for pretty much any product. Once it is rare, there is higher demand and lower supply, so they only are sold to the people willing to pay more than the rest.
The fact that CLYW has anything to do with this is completely wrong.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND GUYS… COME ON
No, they saw people selling their yoyos for more then what they sold them for, so they rose their prices.
Can I see proof of this assumption?
Back when the chief came out people were whinning about the $145 price tag, that’s pretty much what Chris said. I’m not sure if it was in their manufacturer thread or a random one, but he wrote it.
And what does that have to do with the Peak?
Maybe it took many prototypes to finalize this yoyo.
Maybe the smaller runs made machining more expensive.
Maybe their extensive detail to color raised amount of human labor (they don’t use slaves).
Tell me when Chris says “I saw them paying $300 for the Peak, so I decided every yoyo should cost more.”

I like yoyos. I wish I could buy them all. Someday I will.
We took a bit of a detour there but glad we’re back on topic. I think the other thing you need to account for with the increase in CLYW prices is that everything in general costs more these days. Probably not quite as much as the prices have gone up by but the supply and demand chain would account for the rest.

No it was happening with all of his yoyos (if the ano was nice), the peak was an example.
At this point I am confused at what you are trying to say. Just keep in mind that if CLYW keeps making these yoyos so that they will be rare and desirable in the future, people will bump up their resale prices.
I think that he is trying to say (albeit not very clear) that because of the recent demand of CLYW yoyo’s that Chris has increased the price on recent models, and that the Peak’s original price is an example of what their prices used to be like.
