Can people help me understand the different finishes or the difference between finishes 
I have quite a few throws with different finishes and I’d like to better understand them so I can “pinpoint” my preference

That’s a good question, I think it would be hard to pin down. Sort of like colors, lets say you see a blue car from 3 different manufactures, they all look the exact same but their actual colors are “oceanic blue”, “sky bliss” , “cold freeze”
I think maybe it comes down to do you like matte or smooth. Each company will vary how smooth their matte is.
Just my experience, they all seem to feel a bit different even among the same model of throw.
