Assuming your using free cad you’ll want to
Try to exceed the recommended system requirements.

  • Operating System: Windows 10, macOS 10.14 or later, or a Linux distribution
  • Processor: Multi-core processor with a clock speed of 2GHz or higher
  • RAM: 8GB or more
  • Graphics Card: Dedicated graphics card with OpenGL 4.0 support or higher
  • Hard Drive Space: SSD with at least 10GB of free disk space

Free cad isn’t optimized well for multi threading so more cores does not equal better in this case.

Dedicated graphics is the kicker on a laptop that’s gonna suck battery life hard or make the machine heavy.

If you’re using fusion most of it is on the cloud so you can run it on pretty much anything. For 3D printing your just running a slicer which isn’t processor intensive. For reference my laptop is 6-7 years old and I can run fusion and cura just fine.

Yes, my friend was crazy enough to buy the material

I cannot imagine why he would do that… Does he need it for some advanced engeneering application, or for yoyos??

A half metre 60mm diameter rod costs over $2000 AUD.

He just wanted to try the material out, he bought 30cm long , 60mm diameter for 250USD

Thats like a quarter of the usual price. Crazy. I don’t know where he found that.

tell us how it performs! who knows, if it does well you could make a yoyo more expensive than the anglam zero apogee

Just a 3d Printing Idea. The green part is a 3d print in place bearing with shields I designed. This would allow the rims to spin free from the body. Kind of cool and might print it at some point.

my newest design and the one i want to make the most, the tranquility!
aluminum 6061 and polycarbonate
68 grams, 58 mm wide, a whopping 71 mm in diameter!

That looks complex and risky from a manufacturing perspective.

it was mostly just as a cad challenge anyways, and i have no doubt it’d play all sorts of goofy ways with all the center weight
