That’s pretty rad! We should probably swap the Gundam head for a yoyo I’d imagine. Maybe one at a 3/4 angle for some cop perspective to match the vibe of the design.

Also, I love building Gundam models.

I love 'em, too. My 14 year old got three for Xmas. A HG and two RG. He’s working on the last one now.

I always forget how the scales and grades work for them. I like the ones that come in a slightly larger box though. The smaller ones test my sausage fingers lol.

Some tricks I think are essential for any Fixed Axle February:

  • Trapeze Stall
  • Brother Stall
  • Double or Nothing Stall
  • Split Bottom/ 1.5 Stall
  • Lunar Stall
  • Kickflip
  • Varial
  • Shoot The Moon (to Lunar?)
  • Makin’ Da Zines
  • Dump Trucks
  • Sidewinder

There’s a lot here but I feel like these tricks are great beginner foundational fixie tricks. Maybe we can tag on one more intermediate newer fixie trick each week so returning fixie enthusiasts can grind a bit as well? And of course the weekly guest tricks that I’m sure will be awesome.

The Back of Hand Stall > Kickflip/Heelflip > Trapeze is a trick I think is very cool and has a natural progression from the stalls and basic flips.

What does everyone think? What are some tricks you’d love to see incorporated into this years Fixed Axle February?

Personally, I think the most essential tricks are the gravity pull and forward pass. Everything else is just bonus

@Overtinkering has some dope bird variations too. I’ve been working on one but it involves shoot the moon and i cant shoot the moon yet so I’ve been working in that part first. i had to matrix bullet dodge one last night. i bout took it to the jaw! shoot the moon is scary :grimacing:

Seriously–my biggest problem in yoyoing is thinking of something awesome but not having the skill to do it.

I know I’m not a boomer, but I keep getting @‘ed here(which is cool) so I’ll share my two cents for what it’s worth. Basics are essential and welcoming to newer players. Classics are classics, they’re always fun. Some diversity from past years would nice and engaging for more experienced players or returning participants. I don’t know what structure and point system you plan on using this year, but it might be cool to have beginner set of tricks and a separate intermediate set of tricks. Of course, more tricks means more work to put everything together, so idk. Anyway, here is some suggestions for different tricks.

Alien Invasion
Flyaway Dismount
Taffy Stalls
Mystic
Mystic dump
Tra-peace
Matrix Stalls
Hair Trigger
Stall Hops
Chopsticks 2or0 Stall
Wimbledon
Mars Landing
Super Disco Regen
Green Triangle Stall
LFO
Shuvit
Heelflip

As a disabled yoyo’er I love this answer. I do practice stalls and stuff when I’m feeling really good but a lot of my time is just the absolute basics.

I cannot claim disability, but yoyos, for me, was never about doing cool tricks and mastering combos, it was always about simple, repetitive tasks to keep myself, and my mind, busy. Perhaps if I become fluent enough I’ll branch out to combos, but as it stand right now, just doing basic essentials is enough to keep me entertained long enough

I learn new tricks solely out of boredom of whatever I currently am repeating while zoning out.

But it’s tough because I yo-yo a lot of the time to get away from screens and being inside, so it’s hard to get out of that mentality to watch a trick tutorial during my yoyo time.

lol same. i start going crap im doing the same tricks i need a new one. i def don’t use yoyo to break my screen time though. i yoyo while i watch stuff. tutorial first, then i put something else on while i run through whatever i just learned until my shoulder gives out

Same here. I came for tips. Got a little more serious about it. Stayed for the camaraderie.

The best part about fixie tricks is they are way more about feeling and control. So the more you mindlessly practice them, the better you’ll get. You may struggle with Makin Da Zines at first, but after a month of mindlessly doing trapeze stalls you may find that Makin Da Zines is way easier.
