@Overtinkering has some dope bird variations too. I’ve been working on one but it involves shoot the moon and i cant shoot the moon yet so I’ve been working in that part first. i had to matrix bullet dodge one last night. i bout took it to the jaw! shoot the moon is scary
Seriously–my biggest problem in yoyoing is thinking of something awesome but not having the skill to do it.
I know I’m not a boomer, but I keep getting @‘ed here(which is cool) so I’ll share my two cents for what it’s worth. Basics are essential and welcoming to newer players. Classics are classics, they’re always fun. Some diversity from past years would nice and engaging for more experienced players or returning participants. I don’t know what structure and point system you plan on using this year, but it might be cool to have beginner set of tricks and a separate intermediate set of tricks. Of course, more tricks means more work to put everything together, so idk. Anyway, here is some suggestions for different tricks.

As a disabled yoyo’er I love this answer. I do practice stalls and stuff when I’m feeling really good but a lot of my time is just the absolute basics.
I cannot claim disability, but yoyos, for me, was never about doing cool tricks and mastering combos, it was always about simple, repetitive tasks to keep myself, and my mind, busy. Perhaps if I become fluent enough I’ll branch out to combos, but as it stand right now, just doing basic essentials is enough to keep me entertained long enough
I learn new tricks solely out of boredom of whatever I currently am repeating while zoning out.
But it’s tough because I yo-yo a lot of the time to get away from screens and being inside, so it’s hard to get out of that mentality to watch a trick tutorial during my yoyo time.
lol same. i start going crap im doing the same tricks i need a new one. i def don’t use yoyo to break my screen time though. i yoyo while i watch stuff. tutorial first, then i put something else on while i run through whatever i just learned until my shoulder gives out
Same here. I came for tips. Got a little more serious about it. Stayed for the camaraderie.
The best part about fixie tricks is they are way more about feeling and control. So the more you mindlessly practice them, the better you’ll get. You may struggle with Makin Da Zines at first, but after a month of mindlessly doing trapeze stalls you may find that Makin Da Zines is way easier.
Wow. I’ve got some serious research to do on this list…
- tape measure
- Stop and go
- ufo
Happy New Years from the eastern seaboard yall!
Most of those are from the Bandalores IG and the others from Drew Tetz’s YouTube videos “Fixed Friday: Learn These” and “Fixed Friday: Flip Tricks”
Gonna mention again that the v1 workhorse PIF is currently up for grabs! Its a really fun throw so sunshine should take this up
Hey those tricks suggestions from @Jerrod are also in my tutorials playlist, many of them any way.

Check the descriptions in the videos for links to Ed, Drew and others who originally shared these tricks. To the best of my abilities. There are also "shorts"not these videos that have no speaking just the trick from different views and slow motion.
These tutorials of mine are a different view different teacher. Maybe help if struggling.
Enjoy have fun boomers
Love the Heelflip!
Also really digging the narration to explain the trick.
Mr. Jason,
Will you be joining us again for FAF and MRM?
Workhorse v.2 PIF
Happy New Year,
I have had this for a bit longer than a month at this point, so I am ready to pass this on to the next YYBC thrower. Having the chance to try the V.1 and V.2 workhorses back to back was a really sweet experience. Getting to feel the changes made between versions was awesome. I can’t wait for the production run to come, and I’ve never been more excited for MRM.
PIF Rules
Rules:
I will send the Workhorse on to the next person to respond to this post here, in this thread.(Yoyo Boomer Club Members only.) DM’s don’t count; it needs to be in thread to keep everything fair. (First come first serve.) You will get this great throw to use and enjoy, completely free, for 30 DAYS (give or take a few).
HOWEVER! By accepting this throw, you also accept the responsibility of creating a similar post at the end of your time period, as well as paying the shipping fees for sending it on to the next person.
An eternal curse of fuzzy string and slippy binds on the person who breaks the chain!!!
What is the story on the wooden case?
Definitely need these! But not sure how to get through FAF eithout necessarily having to go over the essentials every year to keep folks on a slow learning curve but keeping experience players entertained.
Could be as simple as making an extra long trickset for week one where we have the stall-a-palooza for beginners and a slightly more advanced trick set for folks that already know how to stall. Im thinking this could just be a week 1 thing but honestly not sure what would be the best approach there.
Also! For someone at my specific skill level (experienced, but really just entering my 2nd year of treating yoyo like a daily hobby), it would be awesome to have a day with tricks meant to flow together into a little combo routine. I always feel like im doing individual tricks and want to work on flowing from trick to trick this year. This feels like a 1A sort of thing (so maybe im a bit ignorant here), but then I watch Ed Haponik play and he does all sorts of cool stuff that sorta just flows together. Aside from landing the trick sets id love to improve in that regard.
Last thought. Last year one of my best videos in terms of views/impressions was the food themed tricks week. Not something folks generally think about, but some quirky themes could help with social media presence to hopefully attract more outside folks to join in the fun too. Something like 6 ways to rock the baby could be silly .
