Workhorse v.2 PIF

Happy New Year,

I have had this for a bit longer than a month at this point, so I am ready to pass this on to the next YYBC thrower. Having the chance to try the V.1 and V.2 workhorses back to back was a really sweet experience. Getting to feel the changes made between versions was awesome. I can’t wait for the production run to come, and I’ve never been more excited for MRM.

PIF Rules

Rules:

I will send the Workhorse on to the next person to respond to this post here, in this thread.(Yoyo Boomer Club Members only.) DM’s don’t count; it needs to be in thread to keep everything fair. (First come first serve.) You will get this great throw to use and enjoy, completely free, for 30 DAYS (give or take a few).

HOWEVER! By accepting this throw, you also accept the responsibility of creating a similar post at the end of your time period, as well as paying the shipping fees for sending it on to the next person.

An eternal curse of fuzzy string and slippy binds on the person who breaks the chain!!!

What is the story on the wooden case?

Definitely need these! But not sure how to get through FAF eithout necessarily having to go over the essentials every year to keep folks on a slow learning curve but keeping experience players entertained.

Could be as simple as making an extra long trickset for week one where we have the stall-a-palooza for beginners and a slightly more advanced trick set for folks that already know how to stall. Im thinking this could just be a week 1 thing but honestly not sure what would be the best approach there.

Also! For someone at my specific skill level (experienced, but really just entering my 2nd year of treating yoyo like a daily hobby), it would be awesome to have a day with tricks meant to flow together into a little combo routine. I always feel like im doing individual tricks and want to work on flowing from trick to trick this year. This feels like a 1A sort of thing (so maybe im a bit ignorant here), but then I watch Ed Haponik play and he does all sorts of cool stuff that sorta just flows together. Aside from landing the trick sets id love to improve in that regard.

Last thought. Last year one of my best videos in terms of views/impressions was the food themed tricks week. Not something folks generally think about, but some quirky themes could help with social media presence to hopefully attract more outside folks to join in the fun too. Something like 6 ways to rock the baby could be silly .

Jerrod mentioned this too, which makes me think, “if you guys aren’t doing this already, how in the world are you ending your tricks???”:rofl::rofl: That is basically the ending of everything I do

Totally! Just for example, maybe week one is Trapeze Stall, Brother Stall, and Double or Nothing Stall as the most beginner basic set for new comers. Then there’s a 4th trick like Cartwheels at the end for slightly more intermediate people. You can also tie it in with the other if you’d like. Trapeze > Cartwheel > Brother > Double or Nothing.

Just a thought. I like the idea of one added intermediate trick at the end for returning fixxiers. And then of course we’ll have the weekly guest trick that’s always fun and new.

Well. I bought myself a yo-yo (technically with gift card money). I got a shiny new PLTPS on the way! Between that and the Workhorse deposit I paid, I feel like I’ve spoiled myself

I’ve not tried the PLTPS but I can’t recall anyone saying they didn’t like it either.

It’s one I’ve been wanting for a while. I love the idea of having a dedicated throw for responsive counterweight play.

Last years theory for FAF;

Beginner friendly Trick each week.
Intermediate Trick each week.
Advanced Trick each week.

Guest trick(s)

I thought this concept worked well. Every week there was/should be something for everyone. Keeping everyone engaged for the Month.

So maybe we subdivide the list?

Beginner Tricks - Basics Elements for anyone starting out. Easy and Successful on $3.00 Butterfly for beginners. (I know many of you can do anything on a Butterfly. ) depending on the list, maybe its 2 tricks per week?

Intermediate - Same concept as above.

I am not overly concerned about the Advanced Tricks. We have awesomely gifted members and guests that will bring the heat.

Also maybe a mini game this year… Want more of a challenge, complete the set on an imperial.

Thoughts?
