Yoyo Appraisal Thread

2nd run Summit 1 of 10 made in clareview station never released again

How much is a mint Code Two worth? I’ve seen them go from anywhere from 50-90.

You pretty much got it. Depends on the colorway and how fast you want to sell it

For the pre-pro Majesty, I think a reasonable price would be $80-$120.

How much would a mint A grade ironman peak go for?

I think the going rate is around $350.

I wanna know to I have one as well

Bringing this back up since saw the listing.

Two flat spots and listed as “good” condition will not bring near the same amount in my opinion. I was one of the buyers at $300+ but that was for mint like perfect condition. I’d price it at $250 plus or minus.

The thing with me and collecting titanium is that I’ll pay top dollar for the rare ones if are mint and be careful with them since they have made it this long without being damaged. But when I buy new ones even the really expensive ones I tend to play them like the toy they are meant to be. Weird I know but that’s just me.

Needless to say that if I ever sell my collect the 2013 models and newer will probably be in “good” condition which is bumbing to even think about.

Yeah I understand, I certainly wasn’t expecting the 300 price range. I guess part of the reason I put it up was just to see if there was any demand. I haven’t been throwing it much, and so I’d love it if someone wanted it to throw, which actually they may be more inclined to do with this. I appreciate your responses though. I was really thinking much more in Links price region, so we’ll wait and see. I have no qualms about keeping it. I do really appreciate it.

I think it will bring more than $180 being that Tis are rather hot right now and I would have paid more than that for it. I honestly would have bought it enstead of the mint one I bought from RobK just because I would use it more than a mint collectors piece. I think it plays rather well and I like smaller throws in general.

Well you know where it is

You should play it. Based on your buying habbits, I can only imagine you can afford to buy it. It is less rare and less expensive than a dazzler, and I know you are throwing that. How could you not, it is glorious to play.

I play my aurora, my current mint one. And I am the sencond owner of a numbered sovereign that I payed a LOT for, and am the first player to actually play it. So it depreciates a little. The depreciation is still less expensive than the gas for a day of JetSkiing for the family (until the new sparks come out in the spring!).

Lol I don’t know how a yoyo’s depreciation and gas burnt for entertainment are relative to one another but its just a quirk for some collectors to keep items mint, mib, or whatever. I just tend to extend the life of such mint throws by keeping the ones that have made it to me in such condition. I may be going against my practices by throwing the Dazzler, Hyperion, and Ricochet but the ones I pay more than retail for will get thrown just enough to see how they play before becoming dust collectors on a shelf.

I don’t know how some people that enjoy yoyoing can buy a “new” throw but never use it and I appreciate the ones that have made it over time without being damaged enough to keep them in that condition. All the Tis I’ve bought from retail have damage except the Dazzler and that’s only because it hasn’t hit anything “yet”. The TiWalker I bought has been bead blasted so I can play it like a damaged throw lol. Hopefully it won’t turn into a beater though!

In my mind these are exactly the same thing.

When you go out jet skiing, you trade money for time on the jetski, there is no tangible good purchased that remains except the memory of the experience, and the joy in the moment.

Throwing a MIB yoyo to the point where it becomes devalued is trading in value for the experience, memory and joy of the moment.

I totally understand where you’re coming from, I just view it differently for myself. I figure the loss in value is the price of usage. If I had a $500 over priced collectible (like a sovereign XIX) and re-sold it next year for $400. Or worse, $350. I view the $100 or $150 lost on the deal as the cost of the enjoyment while I owned it. Since I don’t think these yoyos will appreciate reliably (as I don’t trust collector markets, remember beanie babies?) I prefer to risk losing money on them, and look at what I spend and don’t ever recoup as the price of the pleasure in the moment, and just enjoy them. Plus, it is not hard to throw in a carpeted environment for a collectable Ti. These things are tough. It will be hard to damage them in a carpeted room.

I’d say $90-$115

I completely understand what you’re “saying” but rare mint throws are only mint once so to speak. Fuel, in your case, is just a price of using the machine. I view it totally different. I’m a collector/thrower and if an older rare throw makes it years without damage then I’m going to ensure that it doesn’t get damaged since its now in “my collection”. I’m a collector at heart and its probably my biggest hobby (I have more autographed memorabilia than everyone I know combined hanging/displayed in my bar) behind watching movies in my “real” theater (not just a home theater) so appreciating how someone or multiple people have managed to refrain from damaging these collectors throws is something I carry on the tradition. And since I am so collector oriented but love throwing modern “collectors” I am flawed from a collector’s viewpoint. The loss of say $50-$150 in value by playing a throw and damaging it is the last thing that I’m worried about, its the thought of ending that throws mint journey until it reached my hands. I’d buy more than one of the new Tis (like hyperion and dazzler) if they came in different colors just way I’d be able to truly have one collectors piece of each sitting mint on the shelf.

It’s just hard to explain but damaging a “collectors” throw that is hard to find would be like taking my mint Michael Jordan rookie out of its Beckett graded case and looking at it just to see for myself how mint it really is while taking a risk that I damage it while doing so.

Ok now back to appraising some “mint” throws lol

Alright I have a few. All have their original packaging unless otherwise stated.

BBYY
TT, deep blue, mint
Vortex (that’s what Doug said it was called) prototype, mint, raw,

Hapin
Cut, raw, super near mint
Gorylla, black, super near mint

Dif e yo
Internal turmoil, raw, super near mint.

Thanks!

BBYY lost a bunch of it’s following
The IT could probly still get somewhere in the $40-$60 range
The vortex is an interesting one (if I remember right this throw had a pretty unique shape)- Depends on the buyer but maybe $70

Cut is in the $40 range
Goryllya depends on the bearing since there’s several versions but the d bearing ones are also in the $30-$40 range

IT will be in the $60 range

Thanks, that’s about what I was expecting. I know BBYY has been inactive for years so that’s why I was unsure about those…
