Your Top 5 Favorite Yoyos?

Just coming back into throwing after at least a 5 year hiatus, and I gotta say I’m BLOWN AWAY at how good even $40-$50 monometals are nowadays. You used to have to pay $100 for that level of quality, smoothness, etc, but it seems manufacturers have lowered costs while increasing quality, which I think is GREAT for us players. That said, there’s quite a few throws I need to try, coming back into this, and I have some on the way and will update my top 5 accordingly. But I’ve already gotten a Shutter and Horizon since they seem to have been two of the bigger throws during my absence, and a good baseline I can use to judge higher end throws. Here’s how the ranking stands for me at this moment in time:

  1. YYF Shutter
  2. General Yo M10
  3. CLYW Avalanche (OG)
  4. General Yo KLR
  5. YYF Horizon

Update after receiving some new throws:

  1. YYF Bi Metal Shutter
  2. YYF Shutter
  3. CLYW/OD Summit
  4. General Yo M10
  5. CLYW Avalanche

Just like the Kardashians, I don’t have favorites. However, some throws I’ve been really enjoying:

  1. OD Fat tire
  2. Markmont Magnus Opus
  3. Dan Oliver tiger shark
  4. YYF Supernova
  5. Og YYF Northstar

also, the Tigershark has really gotten me back into responsive, I wanna try wooden fixed axles, if I could get some recommendations from yall that would be huge.

Spinworthy makes some really great fixies. @Glenacius_K can tell you more though.

I second this. I’d love to try fixies, but I can’t bring myself to spend $50 on a nice one when I don’t even know if I’ll like it. So if anybody has inexpensive recommendations I’m all ears. Do fixies ever go on the BST? Wouldn’t mind a second-hand one.

I understand that. When I tried my first modern wooden fixed axle, I took the plunge to buy one and the moment I threw it some kind of switch flipped in my head, I knew it was something I was going to throw until I croaked.

The Legend Wing is a great model for getting started.

What’s the name of the solid blue one? I know A guy who has one and he won’t let me buy it off him lol.

It’s a General Yo M10, it was my favorite throw for years. I’m not surprised he doesn’t want to sell it LMAO

My current top list only includes 4 yoyos.

All are less than 56mm in diameter and at least 67g.

  1. YoyoScientific TriplePoint (68g)
  2. Duncan MKT (67g)
  3. Beboo M2 (unfortunately a bootleg of a Magicyoyo T9, except schmooved, 68g)
  4. DV888 (69g)

I’m absolutely loving solid feeling yoyos at the moment.

Glen seems to me to be modest enough of a guy that he wouldn’t put his own yoyo on a list, no matter how he felt about it. (I might be wrong.)
