For what it’s worth. Alex (cyclontzy) mods were (are) premium FHZ mods. Several months back some old stock was found and made available. As of this writing 9 are left.
Maybe if enough peeps ask him to turn his lathe back on…
my favorite set up would be: not a broken FHZ. Haha.
i lost a bolt to one of the sides of my FHZ when i popped out the caps.
and now its lost forever, and forever it shall be useless to me. it doesnt screw tight and comes loose while in play.
Sorry to keep bringing this thread back, but I just wanted to put my two cents in about the responsive/unresponsive FHZ.
I just got my throws today, and the first thing I did was play them responsive. Totally unplayable for me. I couldn’t even get out of a green triangle. So, I decided to try Cleaning the light up FHZs bearing.
I soaked it in nail polish remover (acetone) and then dried it off. I don’t have any lube, so I’m just playing it clean, but it works and its quiet. So, after putting the bearing back in and throwing the yoyo, I tugged up. Nothing. Repeating the process yielded the same results, so I was home free! Or so I thought. In the middle of Kwyjibo it shot back to my hand and jammed my pinkie. After taking it apart I picked through this thread again, and I saw something about removing a friction sticker, so I did.
After popping the sticker out and cleaning the bearing the throw is dead unresponsive. It’s fantastic! This is definitely the smoothest plastic I’ve ever played.
I don’t know if I cleaned my bearing wrong, or if I shouldn’t have used nail polish remover, but it required an extra step in making the FHZ unresponsive. Either way, it’s perfect now. I’m going to play with it more when this sticker dies, but for now, I’m in love.
I know wholesale cheap chinese bearings come in little boxes full of tubes like that.
Why don’t you ask the people you’ve seen who have had them? Only for sure place I know where to get them, are skate shops. generic bearings come in then… just like in your picture. But I’m sure the tube is thicker than what you’re looking for
I don’t know entirely if they’re the same, but I know plastic coin tubes look exactly like what those bearings are in. A dime size would be a bit large still for them, but it would serve the same purpose.
I’ll get one of these if I don’t find one actually used for bearings then. I don’t even know what they’re called so that I can look for it on ebay or something.
