Yomega Parts (Replacements for Brain Spool, Raider spacers)

Hey all,

Just got a cool Glow in the Dark Brain, but it’s missing the spool… anyone have a spare? I don’t mind what condition the o ring is in, I can find some at work no problem.

Also still looking for Raider spacers, haven’t had any luck.

Thanks for looking!

Bump, help save my brain!

I’ll also be willing to buy the crappiest beat-up-est cap-missing-est raiders or brains if you have them

Are you trying to loop with your raiders?

I have a model for Raider spacers that I can print for you. The goal was to be closer to the plastic spacers that you would get for modding, but they will not significantly affect the response of your raider if you don’t have a shorter axle as well.

Well, I was able to “make” a spacer, so I have a temporarily permanent fix, but was hoping for a 3D print or actual old stock metal spacers.

I do mostly loop with them, but sometimes attempt some of the very basic 0a that I know.

I have a pair of Saber Raiders, one is missing one spacer. I also have 2 fireballs and the aforementioned spool-less Brain.

Once I locate a spool I was planning to reach out to you with some measurements to get them into the 3D printing world to help make replacements more widely available. If you already have the shim specs, I’d be okay waiting till the spool is located to make it one “order” if that’s okay

I’m pretty sure I have a handful of extra EX spacers I’d be happy to pass along if that’s any help.

My youngest also came home from school a few months back with a broken Power Brain XP that I repaired. I can get the calipers out and try model a 3D printable version of the spool, but I think it might be a different shape than the regular brain.

I can mail a few spacers with a forever stamp, so sending one pair is not a hardship.

I’ll see if I can determine if it’s the same. I think it may be the same tho as the only parts listings I have come across just list “brain spool” with no options in application

Here is a listing on an ancient page that no longer lets you check out

I know the clutch was redesigned, just not sure if that includes the spool.

I can measure the distance between the clutches, and I guess the overall depth from the sidewall to inner edge of where the spool sits

Okay, of course my calipers needed a battery and I don’t have manual ones, but I was able to squeeze these measurements out

Axle: 3.9mm, standard Yomega axle.

Actually I’m using the axle in a fireball halfswapped with the non clutched brain half with brain axle and raider guts currently and it’s perfect, very swapable which is fun.
Anyways,

Width between clutches: 9.35-9.60mm, measuring between clutch teeth, and just barely touching the tops of the teeth.

Clutch side well depth: 7.71mm

Spool well ID (between clutches) 10.10mm at bottom, 10.50mm at top, at the starburst. Not sure why it’s tapered slightly, but it is

All measurements +/- .02mm

(I was able to blow all the nasties out with some compressed air after these pics lol)

I kinda feel like I need to just move this to the mods and maintenance section.

Edit: moved.

@MinerJ you are correct, sir. Apparently it is different, according to Rewinds listing, and here is a photo of a classic spool.

This is the spool on my glow brain from… ‘98?

That’s… quite a few orings lol

Maybe that’s what I’m on the look for, but I do have a later graphic on the side , I think?

Power Brain XP from sometime after 2020:

How deep is the hole in the other cap? The dimensions you gave on the clutch side were pretty close to my X-Brain, so I’m thinking the bigger difference might be on the other end opposite the clutch.

I did model and print a couple versions (single and triple o-ring), and they work in my X-Brain, but I’m thinking the overall length may be too long for yours.

Also, I forgot how loud this thing is!

You might be able to go to a dollar store and find a poorly made auto return yoyo, and steal the spool from that. Chances are it might be a good fit.

The other side is standard fireball/raider depth, let me measure

2.83 mm, fireball is 2.8 as well, so it looks like it would be overall like 5mm extra on the clutch side? And then a relief for the oring/s?

That is a good idea!
