Yo-yo or yoyo? Yo-yo’s or yo-yos?

I’ve always been horrible at spelling and grammar and I have seen both singular and plural both ways. Which is correct?

Singular:

Yoyo, yo-yo

Example:

Hey, check out my new yoyo!

Plural:

Yoyos, yo-yos

Example:

Went to World’s this year — there were sooo many yoyos.

Something that the yoyo owns:

Yoyo’s, yo-yo’s

Example:

The yoyo’s bearing suddenly became very loud.

Let’s all be respectful to our Canadian brethren. It’s a return-top in some places, and we should be mindful of that.

My Mac always wants to correct it to “yo-yo”. My windows computer wants to correct the plural to “yoyo’s”.

Apparently jo-jo and 4-4 are valid spellings as well.

I’d have to use a macro to call type that!

Return Top is the best

I have always considered “yo-yo & yo-yo’s” correct.

Return top if you just want the grammar to always be correct and singular.
Yo-yo if you want to use the official spelling.
Yoyo is the quick spelling (auto correct my mess with you sometimes though).
