Worlds 2024

So I’ve never been to any kind of yoyo competition, I would like to attend worlds this year. Does anyone know approximately how much tickets/admission runs?

“Lucky enough” I live in ohio lmao, so Worlds this year might be my first ever yoyo event lol

Right! I live in the southern tier of NY, about a 6-7 hour drive for me but I’m going for sure lol

That’s awesome! Hopefully I make it over that way too! It’ll be cool.

Contest update email just went out! Here’s the info in case you missed it:

First, the contest room block has officially sold out! Huge thanks to everyone who booked rooms…filling up the contest block is a huge part of covering the enormous costs of running this event. If you’re still looking for accommodation, there are plenty of other hotels nearby at varying prices.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions, and sign-ups are now live. please visit the link below to be part of the team and help us make the World YoYo Contest an unforgettable event for all. Volunteers receive a limited edition Staff t-shirt as well as meals during shifts.

We’re ironing out some bugs in our music upload setup, but should have them resolved soon. As soon as music upload is live, we’ll email all registered competitors.

A reminder to all that Cleveland’s RTA system has a train that goes directly from Cleveland Hopkins Airport to the Tower City Station, located in the basement of the building of the contest hotel. One-way fares are currently only $2.50 USD. This is the most cost-effective way to get from the airport to the contest hotel and takes less than 30 minutes.

A huge thanks goes out to all our contest sponsors! Without them there is no way we could make this event happen. Companies vending at the contest include:

Caribou Lodge / Duncan Toys / YoYoExpert

ENSO / Sochi / W1LD / Yomega / YoYoFactory

More updates coming soon…thanks for your support!

I was planning on going this year. But it’s just not going to happen. I’m going to start saving now though so I can 100% go next year

Does anyone know if they will “stream” or upload the performances next day for worlds like they did last year?

There’s definitely going to be a livestream, but it usually takes about a month for all contest videos to upload

Thanks Steve for the updates and all you do for Worlds and the yoyo community, and for bringing it to Cleveland yet again.

I want to let everyone know that I will be unable to attend Worlds this year in Cleveland unfortunately. The reason is because I have actually moved to China to teach English :slightly_smiling_face: . I would be at Worlds otherwise if I were still in Canada. I met a lot of new and old friends in 2019 and I wanted to inform you all of my absence this year this way. I still lurk and read the forums but I was certainly more active on here in 2019, with forum members that weren’t at the contest supporting me on these forums and I remember this and am very grateful for this. I hope to meet you in person sometime soon too.

Maybe one day Worlds will be in Shanghai or Japan again, and I might be able to attend those in the near future.

Cleveland is awesome and the event and venue is world-class. I’d be there if I could.

Not to derail the thread, but for those interested in knowing more about where I am and the city I am in, I made a few walkthrough videos on my Youtube (youtube.com/@MarkLeithead) in Guangrao, Shandong province. It’s a city of 500,000 people halfway between Shanghai and Beijing. You need a Bachelor degree to be an English teacher and a 120-hour TEFL exam, which I did entirely online at teflhero.com for $100 USD and I found the job on teachaway.com which is like the LinkedIn for English Teachers abroad.

If you can, go to Cleveland, I bet it will be a blast like it always is, and better than it has ever been. :slightly_smiling_face: :call_me_hand:

I’ll be there. It’ll be my first in person contest I’m visiting. Lemme know if you wanna hang out. I’ll be staying at the hosting hotel with a buddy.
