Word of mouth is important from people I trust when trying new yoyos.
For me I just buy a yoyo if I really like the look of it. Brand/colourway/stats/anything else doesnât really matter. If I look at a yoyo and think âman, I really want thatâ, then I buy it.
That being said colourway is important. I wont buy a throw based on the colourway, but I will write one off if it doesnt come in any colours I like.
Shape, color, and brand. Basically in that order.
Also I prefer to buy new for whatever reason.
See it! :o
Need it!
Check wallet! ;D
Ka Ching! Buy it! :-*
Basically the same process many of us do haha
A new yoyo will appeal to me typically by shape and weight, as I tend to prefer heavier yoyos. I also prefer yoyos with a good blast finish, the most recent purchase of a bassline2 is a great example of this. However, these things for me are not enough on their own. The Genesis is a superb yoyo and some versions of it fulfill everything I ideally look for in a throw except that for me, in my humble opinion, I donât think it had a huge personality or quirkiness. Realistically most modern throws will do whatever a mediocre player like me can throw at it, so I want something that makes me smile. This quirkiness originally drew me to Sturm panzer, and after throwing their first large heavy yoyo I knew I was in yoyo love. One this connection has been made then brand becomes important because I will go out of my way to try other things by that company. Sturm Panzerâs second installment is a superb d-bearing number (something else I like) and so now Iâm hooked. I will acquire whatever I can by that brand. This follows a similar pattern to my love for vsnyyc.
Therefore for me purchasing yoyos is kind of an evolving thing. To me this works in reverse too. I have picked up throws by a company only to be so bored that I have no desire to play their yoyo. Thatâs enough to make me avoid the brand in future, regardless of the specs of their new output. I should add though that Iâll try nearly anything onceâŚ
You should add
âWay it playsâ (floaty, solid)
I guess that kinda falls under shape and or weight, but still.
I just think your question(s) are interesting and thoughtful.
