Thanks for the response. I don’t know how people do 4a the running around and picking up makes it a no go for me too. I have a bad back though .
That’s awesome! Yeah oracles are def not my favorite 2a pair. 3A throws definitely get better over time as you get more control it feels even if the worst set can last for a combo. Keep it up and if you ever need tips or help feel free to message.
Thanks for the reply! Keep in mind using a mismatch pair to start is perfectly acceptable and can get you started. There also a lot of options for budget pairs like the magicyoyo node, n12 or k8.
I get the knots and I feel it is definitely the worst at the very start depending on how your instructed to start and learning path. Also can get used to when trouble is coming and catch one. The dings and smell is another and I have a few plans to help people with those in the future.
Thanks for the reply!
I get all of that and you def have a place in 5/3a always look forward to your circles. Thanks for the response.
I gotcha that makes sense feel it is more common then I would think for people to only have one looper.
Thanks for the answer.
1A and 5A are already quite a bit. Forget 3A, do not have the patience for that and I don’t have the coordination to get my left hand to want to work with the right though it could be overcome.
I primarily do 1A and when I get bored, will pull out some counterweight stuff. I do also invest quite a bit of my time throwing responsive and recently, responsive 5a.
Thanks for the response! I do get; It can feel a bit like starting over when you use your off hand.
It’s also like trying to learn how to use your left hand on a piano/keyboard. I’m pretty terrible with that too, can do simple 2-handed stuff but nothing beyond that at this time.
I’m still relatively new (6 months) and 2a is what drew me back in after a brief stint in the 90s. I absolutely love throwing loops and I am happy with my right hand, okay with my left but my brain just cannot get the two hands working together. I know it’s a grind and I still keep at it hoping to get two handed looping down. It could just be though I’m not cut out for it.
I have recently started exploring 0a as I really enjoy responsive yoyos and it gives my a chance to throw loops as well as other tricks.
I hope to explore other X division styles someday but having put a lot of time into looping, I need to catch up on some 1a fundamentals I haven’t cracked first.
I wouldn’t say there’s a particular reason I never tried 3a, I just never got around to it for some reason.
for me a large reason why i don’t play much x div is because in 1a it is infinitely easier to do something “unique”. i have always found 2a and 4a less interested because it’s very difficult to create “new” tricks. 5a feels the same way to a lesser extent where there are a lot of tricks/elements that are so essential and repeated it becomes uninteresting to me.
3a has the same issue I have with 5a but I feel it’s to a much lesser extent. 3a feels like it has a ton of room to be pushed still. it’s easily my fav x div and the one i have dabbled in the most. i haven’t played it since i got back from a break but i definitely will continue with it at some point in the near future. the learning curve is hard and untangling stuff sucks.
i think mobius is sick and would love to see more people play it, similarly to 3a it’s something I want to do more of in the future but I’m focused on 1a currently. it feels underdeveloped and under explored.
3a players still consistently surprise me, 5a players less, and 4a and 2a players even less. i still very much enjoy watching x div routines of all styles though.
I mostly do 1a. I can do a few 4a tricks, but I don’t really try to learn anything new. I’m trying to work on 5A.
I think one of the big factors is pretty much all tutorials start you out on 1a. Once you get past early tricks and switch to unresponsive, things get easier. It’s hard to go back to suffer starting in a new style. It was easy to just forget about 2A when nearly all your yo-yos are unresponsive.
3A it think that might have to do with variety and cost of yo-yos. There are so many different models and I wanna try them all. I don’t have 2 of any yoyo. I suppose I could get 2 plastic yo-yos or cheap metals to start, but then the second factor of learning curve gets in the way. Again for most people they already have spent a lot of time on 1a at that point. There is only so much time in the day. I feel I barely have enough time to slowly progress in 1a and 5a.
Thats awesome, X division was what brought me back and kept me here as well.
Thanks for the input, that is a something I haven’t heard before so that is a good insight.
Yeah this is a common thing I hear is time and cost. A lot of people seem to discount just using mismatch pairs to begin with which I get its not a common thing to see. The learning curve I found to be less steep at the start then I feel many think, but it also helps to have experienced people willing to help make it easier. If you ever want to give it a shot let me know.
Thank you for the input!
You brought up another good point of what I think holds people back. I have never met anyone in real life that that does this at all until recently. I started before YouTube and it was difficult to start anything other than 1a at that time. Now things are a lot better for the community, but if you don’t live near an active group it still tough.
I have dabbled in using mid matched yo-yos, but I haven’t gotten over trying not to ding my yo-yos yet lol.
Dinging yoyos could be another huge factor in the lack if X players. If you think about it, 1A is the only style where your yoyos are safe. Mostly. But 3a, 4a and 5a… yoyo damage isn’t just highly likely, it’s guaranteed at some point. And a lot of people care about keeping their yoyos mint. Interesting…
Yeah then you have those of us that see the 3A splash as a work of hard earned art.
Yup. I liken it to skateboarding. Back in the day, i would get all upset when my board got worn down and my graphic scratched away. Now i look at it as progress. Same with wrecked yoyos. I don’t try and ruin them, but it’s part of learning.
