Who turned on the lights?

This specifically sounds like a browser’s cookie (local storage, really) issue, should fix with time, or cookie/local storage clear.

Glad I’m not alone lol

Oddly not working for me either. I’m using chrome on mobile and it won’t go dark no matter how many ways I try to go about it.

What looks like 6 squares next to your username click that and make sure the toggle for dark mode at the bottom of the screen on there as well as in the preferences in the interface on the profile. Mine wouldn’t toggle off but once I changed it on that first thing it worked

There is no checkbox for toggling dark mode in the “6 squares” menu for me. I am using Chrome on a desktop computer. Is this another case of updated software only working properly on mobile devices, leaving us desktop users behind?

Update: I was (only) able to re-enable dark mode here by setting it globally in my Windows Color preferences, setting dark mode for “All Apps”. Note that even setting Chrome to “dark” mode didn’t enable dark mode for this site. It HAD to be set globally at the OS level for “All Apps”.

Which sorta sucks because I don’t necessarily want dark mode for everything. I like being able to pick and choose which applications are in dark mode and which ones aren’t. Moreover, I like it when a website that I visit regularly allows me to enable or disable dark mode for it independently of other apps or websites.

It should look something like this little guy down at the bottom of the 6-dot tab

this worked for a once but it goes to light mode after a refresh.

It might be did you make sure yours was turned on in both places here? The options need to be turned on for the profile and on the 6 square tab, the icon is at the very bottom of the screen it will look like the phone icon for dark mode/focus

This button was invisible for me on my desktop, but when I clicked to the left of the + sign seen below, the button appeared and I was able to switch to dark mode.

Ah. In light mode, that icon is invisible because it is white. Thanks for the tip!
