when i silicone

when i flowable silicone some of it sometimes gets into the bewaring seat, and it takes way too long to get out. any1 have any tips on how to clean it up or how to make it not go in there in the first place?

If it’s flowable, it shouldn’t be that hard to not get it in the bearing seat. To clean it out, get a toothpick or plastic spoon/fork/knife or even a straw and just swipe it across any of the extra silicone in the bearing seat.

This is an extremely effective way to get out the excess silicone, and can be less harmful than a toothpick or fork:

  1. Take a Q-Tip.
  2. Soak the end in mineral spirits.
  3. Rub the mineral spirited Q-Tip inside the bearing seat.

The mineral spirits will soften the silicone, and will make it easier to peel off by hand, or wipe off with the other side of the Q-Tip.

wow. thats hard work

i found that if you have been using flowable you can just use a dry q-tip because it will flake. make sure you take out all the “flakes”

Let it actually harden for around 30 or 40 minutes so it’s not fully cured but still solid then just peel it off. Unless you do that already in which case just be more careful when you do and you should have no issues.
