Maybe see you in a Zoom room soon, I attend half dozen per week.
Oh that’s awesome, let us know when your debut album drops.
I dont think any of us ever feel like we do enough as teachers. I stress out about what I could have done or said or how I could have interacted with a student, all the time. Over the years I’ve come to accept, teacher doesn’t mean super human. Go easy! I’d love to check out the yoyos youve made! Sounds cool!
I’m a rotating equipment engineer in oil and gas. I work with machinists a lot who repair broken pumps and compressors and every time i step in the shop and see the lathes and cnc machines it gets me thinking how much I want to make a yoyo.
Thanks! Glad to be here!
I’m a farmer. I grow wine grapes.
Sounds very chill. I like it.
Thanks @GnarlyCharlie it usually is
Did not realize i necro’d a thread that had been inactive for 5 months lol
All that post processing of the wine grapes?
I am currently working a project at a Vineyard.
I do Waterwells. Grapes from my understanding need a lot of water.
I don’t afford my yoyos. I don’t buy new ones. I don’t have money. I have the same 5 yoyos I did a year ago.
That’s not necro. That’s just a light exhumation. Always nice to revisit a thread and add to the story that is us.
Farming wine grapes sounds like a dream. A back breaking and very water/ temperature/ elevation dependent dream, but a dream for a time. Beautiful area, I assume. If not, at least the grapes are pretty.
I am an investor/day trader. I started out as an entrepreneur and after I made enough money I decided I should put the money to work for me. I was lucky to be passionate about numbers and finances since I was little so it worked out for me
100%. I like seeing old threads pop up. I’m digging old ones up from time to time myself.
That sounds enjoyable but I bet that’s pretty hard work? I really don’t know, all I know about wine comes from Maynard James Keenan of Tool. Looks like really hard work but I guess it all depends on the size of your farm. That’s gotta be very fulfilling, to truly see the fruit of your labor, that’s awesome!
it’s a lot of work during certain times of the year, less in others. harvest (now) is a good time.
once we get these last two blocks picked, i can see where i’m at in terms of yield for the year. i’m 99% sure i’ll break the all time record i set last year. so yeah, that feels good. if/when i do, i’m buying myself a nice yoyo
Yeah, I’d say at that point, you’ve earned it! lol
My first yoyo was a metalic green Duncan with a silver splash across the sides. This was at the end of grammer school. I’ve tried to restart my interest several times over the years and mostly like the present I’ll obtain a dbl handfull of yoyos but not progress much. I do like to go out on the balcony and try every once in a while for arm exercise.
Interesting thing though, my retirement system sent me a link to an online exercise program last week. They then sent me a yoga mat, 6 different stretch bands and a tablet with adjustable stand. The tablet is loaded with an excersie program that is interactive. For my part I stand in front of it and it sees me and assigns markers to where all my joints are. Weird is the markers follow my joints around the screen when moving. A D.Pt. tells me what I need to do to compete an exercise from the video she sees in real time. Example is she has told me to straighten my back when doing bending exercises and things like my feet are to close together or far apart. The exercises are in sets of six and four different sets together last for aboutr 20 minutes before a rest and critique. Then I am directed to do them over again without the interactive place keepers at my joints showing up on the screen. She counts the time for each rep this time sounding a beep to keep me on schedule. I do this three times a week and do feel it when pushing the movements.
Maybe everyone knows about this sort of thing but for this old man it is new magic…now if a yoyo could be worked into the reps!
I thank you for your service.
That’s really awesome, I haven’t heard of that either. Something I should probably get into, what the name of it? Getting a puppy has forced me to get out and walk A LOT! So that’s been helpful in my attempt to get healthy again. Ever since I started working from home and I had to put my last dog to sleep, I found that a didn’t exercise much, if at all. There were even some days that I didn’t go outside! It’s easy to get sedentary when you work from home, I imagine it’s even easier if you are retired.
Vid Trent,
Their website is - https://www.hingehealth.com
It is almost to good to be true. Their service is available to individuals and companies. Mine is sponsered by my retirement system in conjunction with our group insurance program, Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Have a look/see, Tommy
