What's your dream camera

The most interesting image capture device of all, the iphone 13, base model

Yeah otherwise it has been a slow process of picking out which bits would work best with my workflow. Good bit of this is creature comforts, just to improve handling ergonomics.

I LOVE THESE CANONS. My favorite film shooter is my Canon F1. It has the battery auto winder and the speed finder and it’s my baby.

That’s next. That and a two body leather shoulder holster.

I wanted to reflect on this rig and show off what it transformed into.

I ended up getting an XH2s and immediately put it on photo gig duty. An XM5 took the place of the daily carry, its ability to record in 6k and fit into my pocket was too tempting.

Down below you will see the video rig which I spec’d out for events:

  • BlackMagic Pocket 6k G2 paired with a sirui Jupiter cine zoom .

It has been a dream to use but work + life has kept me away from catching up on editing. Here is a clip from nationals 2025: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWPup04AQ2Y

My dream camera is a folding SX-70 Polaroid. Difficult to justify the cost of one considering how little I would actually use it haha.

Currently either an X100VI, or, an M8 with a 35 or 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Nice! This is the one I want to pick up some day.

I had one, beware light leaks.

If you go Polaroid this is the one you want the 1-2. It can use all the films and is in focus. I have a SX-70 but it takes more effort to dial in, especially if you want one shot.

I’ve got one but it’s a bit blockier

Dream Camera has to be a Hasselblad 503CX + CFV 100C Digital Back, and a handful of Prime Glass

Those are undoubtedly nicer. The folder is purely cooler :joy: I’ve wanted one of those since I was a kid. My parents would drag me to antique stores and I would use my lawn mowing money to buy used Polaroids but couldn’t afford one of the fancy folders.

Probably the OM system (formerly Olympus)

OM-1 Mark II

with a few of the f2.8 pro zoom lenses

standard zoom 24-80 equiv , tele zoom 80-300 equiv, and maybe a prime or 2

I like to shoot outside in bad weather so the sealing and portability is a big deal

the f4 lenses are cool for good weather too as they have a 24-200 zoom equiv, but its a bit slow apeture for my taste as a ‘dream’ kit

of course i cannot afford this anyway

Ive been using a Canon AE-1 for about 10 years for film and a handful of point and shoots I found at thrift stores. I’d played around with a Fuji XT-3 but it was so much bulkier i didnt like traveling as much with it and i found myself taking a lot less pictures. Brought a point and shoot with me to a wedding vacation last month and it really got my creative juices flowing again and convinced me to bite the bullet on an X100v (under retail) before I take a 2 week trip to Korea. Im super excited to get to know that little camera.

I can’t speak for the modern version, but the Pen F is a beauty. Always has been. Oddly enough, I traded for a Pen F here on the forum! One of my favorite film cams to date.
