What yo-yos would be considered "infamous"?

Okay, I reckon that there are some yo-yos out there that’s gained some notoriety, either for performing a little too well in the competition scene, or for being unbearably lousy.

Actually, no  yo-yos perform ‘too well’ without being connected to a player that may be performing a little too well on any given day🤔

Pretty much the worst on a scale of infamously lame yoyos was just recently discussed on the forum.
and that Yoyo is the Rev-G. Saying it sucks would be giving it a compliment.

Here is a link to a recent post by a guy that knows good from Badd.

PS I actually had a Toy Store owner give me a Rev because he said he just did t have the heart to sell it to some poor sap.

I still have it… Brand new in my garage in a file cabinet… For literally years

If you ever feel like selling the most egregiously awful yoyo ever, feel free to hit me up.

I’ve seen that YoYoNews article a few times myself. The YoYoJam Big Kahuna. I heard that it did terrible. Not only was it unreliable, but it was quite unpopular

I’m going to use “infamous” a bit differently here and going to throw in the Yeti. Yeti was known for crashing the YYE servers or bogging it down immensely and being gone faster than you can blink your eye. It has also been sold for ridiculous amounts of money shortly after, some being up for $300 on Ebay (no joke). Also to some, it was known for being troublesome when it came to removing the bearing (spacers) or eating string.

Disclaimer: I’ve had zero problems with mine other than a little string friction (fixed) and have successfully removed the bearing, cleaned it and reassembled it without any problems/vibe.

Black Knight

Infamous can also be due to the actions of the owners. An example would be any yo-yo from Alex Kim due to the many antics he has been involved in. Something similar could also be said for Heath Vizer after the incident with Vs. Newton a couple years back.

As for notoriously bad… I have played some less than great designs over the years but only one comes to mind as complete and total trash… the IYYC Breathe. I very rarely ever say a yo-yo is out right horrible, but if you gave me one of these I would probably throw it away just so no one else has to deal with it.

Given infamous generally has a negative connotation, I’d say The End. Fantastic looking yoyo, great collectible… but the hub collapsed with a lot of use.

Zammy could tell you all about this…

First run gm2 for that same reason. ^^

Only one end busted though right? I had an eetsit ended by ferral and it could take a beating!

Yeha, Zammy’s #2. However, I believe another actually bent, but was eventually fixed by Ferral.

I think we’ve got a good understanding of infamous happening here. Some yoyos I consider infamous are those that play so well but have some terrible flaws that make them frustrating to the owner.

One such yoyo to me is the YYF Protostar. I think it is a good performer, but putting in those tricky no-harder-than-tin foil spacers in there was just mean. Yet we all just accept it. It wouldn’t have been a problem if they didn’t stick to the bearing like crazy glue. sigh

Furthermore, YYF have never changed this since it was released!

What makes the Black Knight ‘infamous’?

I traded a mondial for one and really wasn’t a fan, and I’ve seen a few others with the same opinion.

To me it isn’t often that people really dislike a yoyo, so that’s why I thought of it.
Also the WUB.

SOUL-DOUBT.

The WUB? What company makes that yo-yo?

The West. Uranium. Black was made by a chinese company called HICOO AROUND 06’ 07’.

Another infamous throw to add would be the G5 Sabatoge. YYF canceled the release due to inconsistancies with the orange teflon coating.

You beat me to it.

LOL, Which part?

Ohhhhhh…I see now.

The Lucha Libre is infamous for being terrible and causing the company Thrown Down to fold.
