What Were the Yo-Yo's to Have? -- 2004 - 2006

Hey all! I’m quite obsessed with what “Yo-Yo” was like in this era, the tricks were stunning, the music was great, the outfits were… well… anyway, I’m very interested in the Yo-Yos from this time, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think were “The Yo-Yo’s to have” from 2004 to 2006– thanks!

Honestly, great topic. I’m interested in hearing some dusty old yoyo stories

The Freehand One from the OG mold
The Freehand Zero
The Throw Monkey
The Flying Squirrel I can’t spell
Flying Panda
and I think the MG came out in 03 or 04

At this time especially with duncan modding became huge. Takeshi was modding yoyos with antennas during the viking tour. Just absolute legends that was on that old Duncan crew.

I imagine the Speeder and Hitman must have both been popular around then with their competitive success and particularly how influential the Hitman was.

Once this thread is all wrapped up, I’ve got another one similar to it that I’ll start.

I 'm a fan of the yoyojam xcon from that time period. but not sure if that was on the one to have list for everyone… i think dark magic and maybe lyn fury were a little more popular.

SPYY Radian set some new standards in 2006 including the use of the D bearing, my favorite!

I started playing yoyo in that era with a Yoyofactory Fast201 because it was the only acceptable one available in stores here in Italy as far as i remember. Then i had a couple of LynFurys, a Kickside and a Hitman, all from YoyoJam. I had a Duncan Freehand Zero also. My holy grail was an Oxygene yoyo but i never got one sadly.
Here’s a photo of what survived to these days

Literally everyone had a FHZ and at least one hybrid from YYJ. Modded FHs were the rage. The one I really wanted but didn’t have back then was a FH MG.

That’s interesting— the only yo-yo I have from that era is an MG!

(Okay, so I guess it’s one of the new silicone recessed MG’s, but still very awesome!)

Does anyone else have some throws they’d like to talk about? Because I’d be very glad to listen!

Peak came out in 2006
