This trick is driving me insane. It’s really hard to establish that triangle shape and swing the top around without dropping it out the bottom or launching it off to the side. @DaneMartin do you have any tips on getting into that spin cycle??
I don’t know if this will help. I honestly shot about 10 videos trying to help explain but I talk too much lol. This video is probably the most similar to actually hanging out with me. The antithesis of helpfulness… ![]()
I forgot to mention though. Trying to keep your throw hand directly over the NTH and keeping everything close to your body helps

Thank you!
It never occurred to me to try it with a fixed tip. I have been using smaller lighter tops similar to the bearing king in the video, I think a larger heavier top might allow me to get the feel for establishing that circular motion.
Working on drum rolls. This is a nasty, unforgiving regen. Working on the rudimentary mechanics of it, then as a pump or two. I’d like to get 10 from a throw and 3-5 after drum beats or something.

This still looks backwards to me!! lol. This trick drives me nuts. Even though I feel like I know when I should be regening apparently I don’t lol.
Some regeneration moves don’t really build up any spin, they just kind of maintain it at best.
Yeah but I’m bleeding it off too fast here. I should just barely be able to maintain that motion. Real weak regen like a Sun in wheel of fortune
Drum rolls is definitely my kryptonite. I just can’t feel it. But when I learned roller coasters I just brute forced attempts for hundreds of hours until it clicked. So I think if I use that strat to brute force different orbits, I think the drum roll regen will click… maybe I’m just crazy lol.

I spent around a year practicing regens, you just have to count different when you are learning, it goes 1,2,3,doh! 1,2,3,4,doh! 1, doh!
At least you are not having to pick it up every time.
You are way ahead of me with that one, but just throwing out unqualified ideas, the different tips and strings made a huge difference on the different regens, have you tried much with a smaller top?
Yeah especially the Quicksilver and trompo Grande. I’m going to work on it with the wooden top here in a bit. I feel like I could have done 5 here but I just wasn’t sure at the time. It’s an older video, this trick has been eluding me for some time.

I feel like I have writers block. I have these great ideas then when it comes time to execute, I draw a blank. So I’m just doing fun combos to see what I can link together.

Sorry for blowing up the thread but posting these helps keep me getting ready for the contest. I find it’s helping me to force something, almost anything each precession. Like not waiting around to get into the next trick. So that’s my focus today even if it’s something relatively simple.

Man that’s great, getting faster and smoother.
Nice!!
Finally having a bit of success with Bermuda Triangle, got 12 spins a couple times today and back to hand. Still not looking smoooth ![]()
I can’t believe Steve Brown made it look so easy on an old Bearing King!
This is funny…![]()

I learned this today and I think it’s super fun lol. Try it out. Much easier than you’d think, especially if you’re handy with the roller coaster.
