What shape is what?

I have always been told that the yyf northstar was a H-Shape. Now, the one drop benchmarks drop and the V-shape looks just like a northstar or werrd time series. I thought these were H-Shape but others tell me it has to look like a duncan barracuda for it to be H but the H-Shaped benchmark is not like that either. Can someone explain exactly what defines each shape and maybe a well known example? Would appreciate.

Copied from an earlier post…

H Shape:
How to Identify: The exaggerated rims. The “true” H-shape yoyo that gave the shape its name is the Hspin Envy (not on this website, a google search will show you what the Envy looks like)

Double V/V:

Goes by several different names

How to Identify: Straight, angular body with rims that are at a more shallow angle. Many V and Double V shaped yoyos could really fit into either category.

High Walled:

How to Identify: The “wall” of the bearing area extends out a far distance before curving out into the rims.

Examples:

Low Walled:

How to Identify: Opposite of high wall. The “wall” of the bearing area does not extend a far distance before curving out into the rims.

I don’t think I’m missing any shapes here.

Just remember, not every yoyo fits into one of these categories, some yoyos fit into multiple categories, and some of these shapes have varying definitions.

See, I’ve always had the misconception of it as well. The (what I’ve considered) H-shapes I have I would say are very much between a V-shape and a Double rim shape. a considerate step down which gives a different feel to it. Also, a Double-V seems to match the bill of what I thought a more H-shape was, but simply more curved so it did not resemble an actual Double-V shape.

Double Rim:

I would consider the cliff a H shape with a double wall.

This dude called me out of FB cause supposedly I was blind not see which was the H shape for the Benchmarks series…

You might be interested in the shape game.  It helped me out some.  Not everyone agrees on some of them, but hey…that’s how it goes.
