One of mine would be my Radical Seas Team Edition Oracle (Butter Edition).
Why? Because come on, it has butter on it, how cool is that!

I would say my Black Hspin Pyro.

Many years ago, when Christopher Kayatz made up a very limited edition of the Black Pyro, the first thing I thought was, ‘How in the heck do you get one of those’?

One of the guys told me that Chris would be bringing them(about ten I think:) to Worlds(2007 if I remember correctly?)

They would be auctioning them off as the best way sell such a small batch.

Since I really modding up a storm way back then, I would talk to Chris frequently, because if nothing else, we had something in common, lol.

The guy, Even back then, was a Genius and it was really an honor to chat with him.

In a conversation, he told me he would like to meet me so we could ‘talk yo-yos in person’. He told, ‘Mo, I will make this challenge to you…. If you make it to Worlds this year, when I see you, I will hand you a Rare Black Pyro. That will be my gift to you just for showing up’.

What a Great offer no doubt. But sadly, I just didn’t see that trip in the Cards. I thanked him for the offer and that was that.

Time went by and while talking to Dale Bell one day(back then, Dale and I talked 2 or 3 times a week) and Dale suggested I make it to a worlds so we could brainstorm a few Yo-yo projects?

My girl told me, ‘Don’t wimp out on your yo-yo friends. Get on the plane and go have fun. I can handle the pets for 3 or 4 days, lol.

…… So…. I’m at Worlds, running in to more people that I even thought ‘I knew’, lol. Amazing gathering of hundreds of players at the Rosen Plaza Convention center.

Right in the middle of the fun insanity, one of my buddies told me that Eric Wolfe was auctioning off Black Pyros in the Banquet room. Only a few left. I just sorta shrugged my shoulders and thought, I’m certainly not going to get in any bidding war with actual Collectors, that really want or need one for the Collection. Good luck to everyone.

So I’m doing the meet and greet in the large area in front of the banquet room, which was as busy as a beehive. As I weaved my way through the crowd, I saw a familiar face. Not one I had seen before in person. But a face that I had seen nonetheless in images. Right as I recognized who it was, he obviously recognized who I was. And he walked directly over to me with a couple of his associates trailing behind him. He smiled and said so I finally meet you. You are Mo. Yes I am and you are Christopher.

I extended my hand to shake his. Instead of shaking my hand, he put the Hspin tube in my hand. He said remember what I told you? I told you all you need to do is show up at worlds and I will hand you a black Pyro. Here you go.

I would say as great a memory as that was and still is, I still regret that we were both so busy at least it seemed at the time that we never really sat down and talked about yoyo related stuff or anything else for that matter. So from that point of view, the stars just didn’t align, and I still regret that I didn’t say. Let me buy you lunch. Let’s talk about stuff.

But still to this day, I have my original Hspin hand quakes…. And I have my rare black Pyro.

I’m certain this isn’t the story of the day that is gonna touch someone or mean as much as it does or did to me.

But almost 20 years later, I still appreciate his generosity and treasure our friendship and I would never sell or trade my Black Pyro.

…. And coming in a close second would be my oxy Hyperion. Still to this day it has withstood the test of time. I have a considerable number of titanium yo-yos. If I had 20 hands, and was projected to live 500 years, I would still have more titanium yo-yos than I could use not only in my lifetime, but if I was reincarnated with 40 hands.

The Oxy Hyperion is still a masterpiece and was way ahead of its time. And if he released another batch, it would still be relevant today. Carlo Menon was a true yo-yo mastermind.

The end..

MK1 Exia first run….
I used it to participate in my first ever contest. OWYY2022 40+ division.

The Iceberg that I used in WYYC2024 40+ division and got second place with.

The Galaxy Diver that I used for ANTE 2024 Xdiv Sport and got 3rd place with playing 5a. (I think you might be starting to see a pattern)

The iYoyo Explosion that I used in WYYC2025 and Benelux Championships.

The Lathed Back Design Bangarang that I ordered to celebrate my Judo Black Belt.

The Shutter I’ve halfswapped with one of my daughters.

The (broken) Yomega Saber Raider that I bought in 1998 (I think) that not only took me through the first few years of yoyo play but reignited my excitement for it back in 2020.

My first bimetal that I’ve beaten the crap out of. The MYY Focus Z01.

My first “expensive” yoyo. The YYF Flame (also beaten the crap out of).

Just to name a few. (Think I’ll add some pictures).

There’s some others I’d never sell. But these are the first ones to spring to mind.

A yoyo from each of the design projects I have been involved in, both personal and other. It’s always a lot of fun to collaborate with different designers, teams and individuals, so that process and the results hold a special place in my heart.
