It is a great yo-yo.I think it is an improvement over the original. Performance is where you would expect and the play is different enough from other YYR to justify the purchase.
New contact thanks @MarkD
Pretty crazy mail day from some weeks ago:
Left: Recess Quiz, really fun steel throw
Center: RSO Bape.3 (yes, 3!) d-bearing proto, rose gold and black (slck) YWETis — The YWETis are awesome as always the Bape.3 is amazing, really really fun throw.
Right: UNPRLD Coglite Scales edition, this one is really fun, really zippy and light on the string, yet still stable.
Love the non SE yweti! @Isaac
It’s such a great throw! Easily one of my favorite throws, and definitely in my top 3 titaniums.
Oh my, that RSO Bape.3!!! So jealous, how does it play?
What is the bape.3? I like the look of it whatever it is!
These came Friday but didn’t post. Death Adder V2’s Solid Pink and Atomic Punk colorways. Plus some swag that came with for the 4th of July sale.
The Death Adder is one hell of a throw. wisely chosen, dude!
It’s a prototype that Elvin from RSO was planning on releasing or making a production run of but he didn’t like the way it played/turned out so it got scrapped, unfortunately.
Aw man, that would have been sweet!
Where do I sign the petition for bringing this creation to fruition?
@lytelvin we need Bape 3
Also just throwing out a 7068 Skywalker and ti oxy 4 would be awesome @lytelvin
Got this beauty last week technically but wanted to share because it’s just so darn good. I think my favorite BST purchase so far. I can’t put it down
The Zephyr 2 from Throw Revolution
amazing!
Box of yo-yos came in the mail today. Prizes from Duncan Toys to be awarded during the 16th Yo Down Show Down in New Mexico - July 31 Details online. Special Thanks to Duncan for sponsoring the 2021 contest. for sponsoring the 2021 contest. Prizes from another sponsor is on its way.
Technically not a mail day, but I snagged myself a classic Butterfly from a local mom/pop toy store to see if I have any interest in 0A.
I love it! I’m not the biggest fan of the original Bape, it’s color scheme is great but it plays, and I say this with love, like a rock on the string to me; the Mecha Bape plays pretty similar, and while smoother, still feels quite dense to me on the string. It’s pretty heavy for it’s size by today’s standards, being 67g while also undersized. The Bape.2 is nicer because the side effects let you tweak the weight a bit to your liking but still a little heavy for my tastes at that size.
Thus we have the Bape.3. It’s the perfect weight for it’s size, clocking in at 63.5g. It still feels solid, but much more to my preferences. If the Bape were made today, I think this is what the result would be. The D-bearing gives it that unique feeling on the string too, great for low spin binds and the wider pads make the response feel closer to the OG’s Baz Pads than the flow groove on the Bape.2. The anodizing on it is incredibly smooth and feels awesome to the touch. I think it might be 7068 based on the sheen the ano has in the light, but it might just be how it was blasted before anodizing.
In summary, I think it is an awesome throw and truly worthy of being the next step in the Bape lineup.
Thanks for the background! I didn’t realize this was a scrapped design, I thought it was something yet to come / be announced. I agree, that’s quite unfortunate, and I would also throw my support behind revisiting the concept if @lytelvin ever decided to do so!
