What did you get in the mail today? 2021

I’m wondering if the slims are good for looping and 0A play. If so, then they aren’t a useless product by any means. As for the dummy thicc, well, I think they could help solve the problem of yoyos with dummy wide 4.82mm gap widths.

The Assassin (b-grade version). This thing is pretty rad, spikes are just big enough to pull start. Also makes cool noise when I bind.

Yep, I sometimes use slimm poly/nylon blends on responsives. I use dummy thiccs… rarely. Usually for yoyos with really wide gaps. But 95% of the time I find the Goldilocks juuuuuust right for unresponsives.

I did get a thickness between Goldilocks and dummy thicc from BWC once and while still too thick to be perfect for most unresponsives they could be more comfortably used with more than the super thiccs could.

I snagged a sample pack of the new Zipline x Sochi Alphaline string. First off, I just want to say that getting a hand written thank you for my $5 order feels absolutely incredible and that level of appreciation for your customers is astounding. Zipline has earned a customer for life. Second the string is pretty incredible for the money, so much nicer than the Kitty string I’ve been using.

How is it

It’s impossible for me to give a fair assessment until I find the right bearing and string to pair up with it. And also spend more time throwing it.

How’d it play with the bearing and string it came with?

I know, right?

The initial drop happened right as I had hopped on the freeway (to get to work)…by the time I got to work, all the a-grades were sold out. I was then on the fence on the b-grades literally until the bitter end. So glad I did get it…and the vibe? Honestly, there’s barely any. Definitely worth the admission

How is the string?

Put it on 5 different yoyos yesterday and played the hell out of all of them. A few things stick out.

  1. Its much softer than other bulk string I’ve tried, feels great on the fingers.
  2. It holds shape in the little slack tricks I can do better than the bulk strings I’ve tried, even after adjusting tension multiple times.
  3. While I didn’t play one yoyo a ton yesterday, I did notice that it was fraying less than other bulk string.
  4. It is in between a normal and fat thickness, which to me feels perfect.

Overall I’m really happy, will 100% be buying a 100 pack when I’m done with my current box of string.

Duncan Yoyo Day order 2 of 2 arrived today (wonder if order 1 of 2 is still coming, who knows!?!?!)

Don’t forget to charge my card, or don’t…whatever is clever

It is quick and nimble, but because it is a bi-metal it is also quite stable. The binds are less snappy than I expected from a 4.50mm gap, and maybe that’s due to the pads? I don’t know. That’s why I want to try a slightly thicker string.

So amazed by those!

Thanks again @Kray for that smooth deal!

Finally got my Matcha Goji. I think the pink string makes it look like a little watermelon. It’s adorable and powerful. My new favorite yoyo for sure.
