I wouldn’t describe mine as brown, but maybe more of a dark gold … almost leaning towards olive. It’s darker than the photo.
I’m also a huge fan of the freesolo. I just recently got a kuntosh 5000QV and its really really good too. Reminds me of freesolo when UL SE are on. But a little more floaty… how do you compare the two?
Dude, I’ve been trying to track down a decent colored, well priced Kuntosh 5000QV for the longest time lmao… I don’t have one nor have I even tried it unfortunately, which is crazy to me. I do however have a regular Kuntosh and it’s one of my all time favorite yoyos for sure, and I imagine the 5000QV will be right up there as well. I definitely feel the similarity between the Kuntosh and the Free Solo, and have had the same thoughts as you myself. There is undeniably Kuntosh DNA embedded in the Free Solo, as IIRC the OG Kuntosh was supposedly a huge inspiration to Chris when designing the Summit, which we all know the Free Solo is a direct descendant of. I’ll get my hands on one soon and let ya know!
I know the struggle to find one with a good color but… people are holding them for a reason. Just find any color you can! Then if one pops up in a color you want just sell the other? I don’t think the 5000qv is better than the freesolo, but I do think it is just as good just slightly different characteristics.
888 Forever. Lotsa vibe on this guy - pretty disappointed with that, but it feels just like I remember on the string.
Is it a B-Grade? I have one as well but it doesn’t have any vibe that stuck out to me.
It was advertised as an A-grade, I’m in touch with the seller about it. I really like it, but the vibe on hand grinds is kinda out of control. Not too bad on the string. Gonna try a new axle and see if that does anything, no luck with tuning so far.
It would be worth a shot trying to swap the bearing as well, sometimes bearings themselves can introduce vibe.
I think I’ve been about as thorough as I can be so far. Bearing swap, axle tuning, removing hubstacks. No axle this size available to swap in, so that’s what I’m counting on to fix it at this point. I’ve even done my obsessive bearing reseating ritual to try to ensure that there’s not an issue with the plane or machining of the bearing seat/inner rim of the bearing, which I have found to be relevant in corner cases in the past. Thanks for offering pointers!
Got an AR-T woodboy today and it’s just ridiculous. It’s the largest 1a yoyo I own and just plays so strangely.
I know it’s not nearly as impressive as what y’all are throwing, but these are my first yoyos since the 90s and I’m pretty excited to get back into the hobby.
Been wanting a Grail for so very long, snagged a B7 a couple weeks ago but still had the urge to get this one into the collection.
The color goes very nicely with my tools.
Not quite a mail day since I got these two off the local BST, but these two (yoyoempire star empire and tsunami, featuring bubble tea) play super well, I’m a huge fan. The star empire plays strangely similar to my superstar 2016 but it just feels more fun and looks cooler, and the Tsunami is an absolute monster - it easily competes with, if not surpassing all the bimetal throws I have.
I got a big case. I’m going to try and get half of it full of new wood yo-yos to take to PNWR in case anyone is interested
SO, you bought a new case, just in case??
I like that.
