Looks like you have a bubblegum Grail, it’s a bit lighter than the purple
Here’s purple:
Thanks for the info, edit made
This week’s new throws. On the left is the Duncan Orbital GTX and the blue is a Duncan Yoshicuda X. I know that they’re old, having been released in 2019 I believe. But I’m only six months into this yo-yo journey and I have to play catch-up with some of the ‘better’ throws that have been released in the past several years (and are in-stock). The bimetal aspect is great - lots of power and spin time! I’m curious about some others in this category like the GTR Beta, the YYF Edges and Bimetal Shutter. Does anyone have recommendations or comparisons for this kind of throw?
Let me know when you’re done with it!
Welcome to the game! I’m no veteran at 1.5 years and I haven’t played those Duncan’s but I love my bi-metal shutter(s)! “Butter” as they call it! Hummingbird is so nice too.
Have you tried any organic shaped yo-yos?cloudberry, grail and mcmo are a few of my favorites.
ciao Giovanni.
after a few days of playing with the Colossus VI, I can give you my first impressions, considering that I have never had any of the previous 5 versions and therefore I cannot make comparisons with them.
The specifications of the yoyo are on values that meet the tastes of most players, the yoyo has a weight of 65.6 g. and in the launch phase in all of them, in the game, however, it is agile and fast and its weight distribution allows it to stabilize even in the inclined and horizontal game. Spin times are long thanks also to a good quality pillow. Both the aluminum and the anodic coloring process are of excellent quality, I accidentally bumped into a glass door and aluminum frame of my wardrobe and despite having looked at every square millimeter of the yoyo with extreme attention it is as if the blow had never happened , absolutely no damage, I can only say that there was an impact from the noise I heard … incredible !!!
The finish is very pleasant to the touch and extremely effective for grinding, the catch-zone is micro-blasted while the inside of the cup is left shiny, like the wall around the response system.
The anodization is beautiful … my coloring, the painting, is truly wonderful, with vivid and bright shades of colors that unfortunately the photos are not able to convey well.
The concavity in the hub area, although not optimized, still allows you to make finger-spin but with some experience.
The only negative note that I would like to express is for the positioning of the laser engraving, which, on the external rim of the rim, do not help in grabs.
In conclusion, what to say? Do I recommend it? … I recommend it to you at 29 $ you will not find anything of such characteristics and quality … it is an object that does not fear rivals, neither more noble nor more expensive even 4-5 times (and this should give rise quite a lot questioned to many!).
P.S. I noticed your name … are you Italian? and write from here, in Italy?
Thanks! I do have a magnum opus and like it. I didn’t originally, but the organic shape is slowly growing on me. Now I end up throwing it every day and it’s in my top rotation of a handful of new and old favorites. Sometimes I attach the stuff I’m learning to a particular throw that I used learning the element, and I’m definitely doing that with the two Duncans - apparently they’re my new bind yo-yos
Finally got myself some @Markmont string after years of buying bulk kitty/Sochi… safe to say I’ll never be going back. I’ve been able to try the strings before on yoyos that shipped with them, and their longevity, constant crisp new feel was too good to resist, so I took the plunge and ordered 25 cumulus foam as well as a few others to try out. If you’re tired of strings wearing out after less than 30 mins of play, do yourself a favor - try these and don’t look back. Yes they are expensive, but you get what you pay for - they’re more than worth it. SUPER awesome packaging btw - these bags are dooope!
Picked up a Douska from a recent drop … my first Turning Point. If I’m completely honest, I’m pretty disappointed with this throw, especially based on the price.
On paper, the specs should be right up my alley RE: my usual tastes. (Organic / Dia: 53mm / Width: 40.90 / 62g)
Apart from the finish being super unique (one positive), the bearing feels cheap (average at best), and the response is very ordinary. Keen to hear what others who own a Douska think.
Is Turning Point just hype…or am I missing something here?
Bummed I missed that Zipline release. Congrats!
My first TP was the mustang and I’m thoroughly impressed but decided against anything else turning point unless it spikes my interest because I am not sure anything else can compare with my current collection, let alone turning point.
Dang I managed to get a bmc in my cart, but it was out of stock before I got checked out. Nice picture!
Not identical, but very close! Assassin is like 3g lighter, a bit bigger diameter, a bit smaller width.
Can you compare them? I have a furn and really enjoy the size and am most definitely planning on getting an assassin!
@hobbygod might bet better to do that, but the Furn seems to have more power/weight and they really feel different to me. The shapes are sort of similar, but not the same and the materials are also different so that all must go into it. The one thing tangible is that the Furn seems to snap back to the hand harder. Maybe because there’s more weight in the center on the Furn and the weight is more evenly distributed throughout on the Assassin. Hope that helped.
I don’t have a furn so I can’t help too much. But the assassin shape is a lot more open and it’s steel so you can beat it up as much as you want and it’ll be fine
