What did you get in the mail for 2020/2021?

A rosin puck, that stuff works great. No slipping at all and it will last a very long time.

I’ll have to get back to you on the Knight & Gale. It’s a really nice H/V (edit: eh more H than V) that doesn’t seem too extreme on the H side and doesn’t feel overly rim weighted. It feels great on the string and in the hand but I wonder if some people might say it feels heavy for a bimetal. Forgot to mention that it’s technically a proto but I believe it’s identical to the production run.

Edit: I’ve been playing a lot of bimetals lately; I wonder if the K&G would feel more rim weighted to me if I had been playing more monometals. But it definitely doesn’t feel as rim weighted as the Endgame IMO.

Haven’t played the Endgame too much but plays very H. It’s pretty rim weighted proportional to the body and very stable but doesn’t feel like a brick IMO. I wonder if some might find it stiff; I don’t but I’m a really casual player and not really pushing it all that much. It also feels amazing on the catch. H shapes are very hit or miss for me but I’m really liking this one.

I have a Blockade and it does feel very similar to the Grasshopper GTX. It feels a touch more rim weighted and slightly narrower with a finger spin bowl but overall very similar. I think I’d pick the Grasshopper GTX over it though.

Edit: forgot to add pics! OG Shutter for scale

Dude nonja you always come through when it comes to comparisons. You’re the man.

And I’m definitely picking up a Grasshopper GTX at some point. In my limited time trying it it didn’t have the overly heavy feeling that I’ve experienced with a lot of bimetals. Sometimes you just throw a yo-yo and instantly love it, that definitely happened for me with the Grasshopper.

wow the original Shutter that must be fun to have in your collection where’d you even get it?

Haha thanks! Honestly I’d take my descriptions with a grain of salt; I’m really just a casual player who likes collecting. But I’m glad you find them helpful!

YYF sold a batch of 2013 OG Shutters a couple of months ago. I gave away my original OG Shutter I think from before they made it lighter to my buddy and was really disappointed to find they changed the weight/weight distribution. 2013 feels less modern/meta but it’s the feel I fell in love with.

Ah ok! that’s cool

Yeah I thought about getting one but I’m glad I didn’t now that I have a newer one. I don’t know if I’d like it as much if it were heavier. I plan on trying to get one of the special releases of the older model through the BST eventually. I know alien galaxy, the polished rims, Jason Lee, USA, Razor, Koi, and Dragon are all the original Shutter.

Not all in the same day (phone broke so couldn’t take pics), but here is my most recent haul:

Got the Moldy Bread and Diffraction at the same time. Love both of them quite a bit. The Diffraction is a really well balanced EDC and just does everything good. I loved the D bearing feel so much in the Moldy Bread that I immediately sniped a Rooster. Really cool yoyo, I love the smaller than average diameter, and because it is bimetal it still spins long.

I have the highest respect for 2Sick. I think everything Joey has put out is incredible, I might be biased. To me the Endgame plays nothing like the Bliss. It feels like a good compromise between the hummingbird and the OG draupnir.

The last couple weeks I’ve had the Endgame, TiShee, Banshee SS, Rooster, Valkyrie, Wanker, Yoyo Bro’s Voyage, Overdrive Draupnir and Death Adder v2 sitting on my desk. Every one of those are great players and I would recommend any of them. I have been picking up the Endgame more than all the others combined.

For me the Endgame is really something special. The thing that really made it come to life was an airetec slim. I was underwhelmed by its performance when I first tried it with a standard kitty string. I think it will also really like one of the thinner markmont strings.

Yeah the Bliss felt incredibly heavy on the string to me. It looks like the Endgame is a little bit wider and the bell shape is more pronounced, maybe that helps, idk.

I wish every yo-yo company would give the weight of the SS rings they used on bimetal releases, otherwise we just have to guess what the amount of weight is on the rims vs body.

All small diameter yoyos are heavy to me.

66gs over a 55mm x 46mm body is going to be a lot less noticeable than 66gs over a 53x41 mm body.

I also think the rim weight concentration is the biggest thing that makes some bimetals feel like a rock at the end of the string. And 7068 bodies are the worst for this. The body is so thin there’s barely any weight concentration anywhere but the rims. I’ve definitely noticed that the 6061 bimetals aren’t nearly as bad in this regard.

Smashing Crucible is the first one on the left.

There seems to be a lot of love for the Endgame right now, but how do people get on with that gap??? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I like gaps in the 4.4 - 4.5mm range because I like tight, snappy binds. But the Endgame’s gap is nearly 4.9mm. Oy!

Didn’t even notice that. That’s huge.
