What did you get in the mail, 2024?

Noted, thank you. Hearing “best plastic yoyo” really peaked my interest. So far my favorite is the shooting star but I’m always willing to explore. I’ve added it to the ever growing wishlist.

Those are Throw-Yo SOLUTIONS!

The one on the Silenus is a Solvent, which I toss in free with orders. The one on the Hybrid Fulvia is an Ether, which is a spun/trilobal poly blend.

Oh boy! This is my grail! OG Project, very near MINT.

2007 piece of history and has hubstacks included! Thank you @addiction77

While I’m a newbie to hubstacks, you can’t beat the OG look!

(I dont know where I get these ideas from.)

Just in from YYE.com…my brand new OD Wizard. Beautiful lookin in that cinnamon red.

And man…some one and told me this was big, but I clearly didnt read the specs on this puppy. Its bigger than my Edge Ultimatum or my C3 Remaster Galaxy. But hey…its super fun.
…and if I get tired thowin it…I can use it for a soup bowl.

Nope, not by a long shot! That’s one of the cool things about this hobby - pretty much anyone of any age from the single digits up to several decades can throw and have a lot of fun doing it. Just don’t start comparing yourself to others, as it can be a bit depressing to see kids under 10 absolutely blow you away.

Also, I hear you with the thing about getting multiples of a particular yoyo. Sometimes I do that because the colorway choices are just too difficult, and other times it’s because I want to use one as a ‘beater’ and keep the other one pristine. But I’ve often struggled between getting a backup yoyo of something that I already have versus getting a completely different one. As far as I can tell, this never goes away!

For the acronyms, if you spend enough time on this forum you’ll eventually learn everything. You’ll also be able to name a yoyo’s model and manufacturer just by looking at the shape - even if it doesn’t have any markings at all! that’s something that I was impressed by when I first joined, but now I’m doing it too.

And if you’re pretty new, the YoYo Wiki has a lot of good basic information, even if it hasn’t been updated for a very long time (or so it seems).

Thanks mate! Yeah, I totally understand regarding abbreviations/acronyms, we can’t always spell things out every time. On another forum I frequent, we have the same issue, there are members who think we should spell everything out for the noobs, I’m of the opinion that if the noobs are serious, they’ll get the lingo down in no time.

I do the same as you, I have one beater and the back up’s are there just in case. There have been times where I just wished I would have bought a different throw though. Like the impact, the purple and gold one is just so beautiful, I definitely don’t want to learn on that one and get it all banged up but I like it so much, I had to buy another one.

Appreciate the wiki link, I haven’t checked that out yet.

That’s awesome, I’m glad to see there are older folks on here as well, not that I’m calling us old, it’s just cool to see. I have no problem learning from the young guns, some of you guys are just amazing. My sister in-law ran into one in the wild at the downtown Austin Library. She took a video of him, he was obviously very skilled. Come to think of it, he’s probably a member here.

If one of you ran into a lady with a 10 year old son and a 8 year old daughter at the library who stopped to talk with you and watch you do some tricks, please let me know who you are. I do have a short clip but I don’t want to put it up without his permission.

There’s literally a club thread for a group in Austin. You should post that question there.

One drop overture clear.
One drop cabal half swap .

Lost both these throws in a fire that took my collection awhile back, happy to be able to get my hands on some of my lost gems . Can’t wait for my next shipment.

The Overture is such a good throw. I had a Peak back in the day and decided overpaying for one nowadays is pointless for me personally because of how I find the Overture to check all the boxes and then some for me.

I want another overture already , plays even better than I remember, Just too good .

I used to be all about the Onedrop ten ball bearing, but man, once I put a center track bearing in the Overture it was game on

Thought I’d share my accumulated mail days for the past 3 months. I keep telling myself I just need enough to fill my cases, but then I get one more and buy another 6 pack case and the cycle repeats.

A few trades or buys at club.

Bought a b grade d bearing mod44, traded for the G2 and the no name proto 3d printed yoyo, a kid did a speed trade and I got that hksod think for something probably better if not less beat up.

The hksod was mine from a previous trade with a different kid but these kids just trade yo-yos around at club so I often end up with yo-yos I had previously back in my trade fodder pile. I figure it’s like a rolling library kids can try a new yoyo and eventually get something they like once a month.
