I just took delivery of the Dove. The only plastics that I own are a One and a Replay Pro, so I don’t have much to compare with, but this Dove is smooth. No real vibe to speak of, at all.
Buy a pom mojo
Looks like only one left at YYE
Glad to hear it, delrin is one of my favorite materials!
I got these in the last week or so. Finally picked up a Koi from @evildipper the YYF whistling throw was gifted to me by the very generous @Chaman and I got sucked into the hype for the beater which came today!
Here’s my 5 min reviews.
The koi is a superb organic. Absolutely love it. Great combination of float and power.
The YYF stainless whistling yo-yo plays surprisingly well. It’s set up for unresponsive which surprised me for some reason. I just expected it to be responsive. The sound also really surprised me too. Not a sharp clean whistle sound but more of a haunting echoing whistle.
The Beater is my first CLYW. This thing is definitely different from the flock. It’s the first organic I’ve played without that floaty feel. It has that rock on a string feel to me. But the trade off is that it feels more powerful than my other organics. Beautiful and really nicely machined. This thing definitely feels more like a competition bimetal to me but with the comfort in my hand like a organic.
That whistling throw is really interesting. Can you upload a video of it spinning at some point? Thanks for sharing your pictures!
Yeah
I was curious and looked it up on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAt_0E9B764
Immediate reaction: Why is Mystik wasting my time …
Five seconds in: This is comic genius. Mystik deserve thanks.
I’ve had my eye on the Dove for quite a while now. It looks to have a very similar shape as the Speedaholic XX. I wonder how they compare being the Dove is made of Delrin. Does that change the feel of the throw at all? Also been drooling over the Punk for 5A which is Delrin. That is one material I haven’t yet handled.
I haven’t played either of those, but they both look good!
The Speedaholic XX is a little bigger and about 2g heavier than the Dove. So I guess you’re literally getting more yoyo for your money with the XX, but that’s not necessarily a good thing, IMO. Honestly, I have yet to find a plastic yoyo that feels and plays better than a Dove. It has a perfect weight (and weight distribution)–again IMO–and slides in just under my maximum size limit, whereas the XX (and most of its similarly-priced contemporaries) does not.
The comparatively smaller size was one of the appeals for me, with the Dove.
Looking good, we appreciate you!
