Yep, OD posted a few months back that they had supply issues. Also said that aside from color they should be the same.

Thanks that makes sense. The response is good just was surprised after years of seeing the clear pads.

Beater and a Caesar (and the log that comes with the Beater).

They’re okay. I definitely gave into the hype a bit on the Beater, and I’m not really sure what I was expecting from it. I should’ve just realized this at a glance but the Beater is incredibly uncomfortable to me for 5A. The outer rims are so narrow they just dig into the sides of my finger, honestly even while playing 1A if you ever grip the sides of the yoyo after a catch it’s just not comfortable with the Beater. Really that’s my only complaint with it and I’m just griping. I probably shouldn’t have purchased it, but maybe it’ll grow on me more with time, this is just my impressions from a few hours worth of play. It’s a modern organic that plays well and has a light/comfy feeling on the string, but the overall mass is high enough to actually let it handle sloppy play relatively well.

The design of the Caesar feels really outdated but I kind of like it lol. Despite it intending to be a completion yoyo (I think???) it feels like it has a bunch of dead weight in the mid walls and center of the yoyo. The midwall around the response is also kind of massive. This is a really fun yoyo, but I feel like even for the time this wouldn’t have been a great comp yoyo. The colorway is fantastic though, this is only the second MFD I’ve had, but I like this ano way more than the last one I had. It feels complex without being overly busy, and the polished cup/blasted profile is a great aesthetic choice.

Caesar is definitely my preferred yoyo of these two.

My Beater arrived as well. Slight ano flaw in each cup and the play feel is decidedly “okay”. I like the weight a lot but something feels a little off, could just be the rims as @mable noted.

Nice throw and nice string coordination! What string is that?

It’s totally the outermost rim that’s just killing it for me. If your hand stays just on the outer profile of it, it’s a nice comfy fat-rimmed feeling in your hand. The moment one of your fingers or the side of your thumb wraps around and touches the side of the yoyo, the edge of the rim just digs into your hand and feels so sharp. If you ever catch this yoyo in your hand at an angle, it’s a bad time.

It feels nice in play, but half of the appeal of an organic is for the yoyo to feel nice in the hand. Maybe I’ll get over it, but this is really just souring my initial impressions, especially since I was kind of going in with the mindset that this was going to be the affordable Canvas I’d been pining for.

I’ll be back with more thoughts in a few days after I am able to give it more time. I agree that a comfortable hand feel is one of the primary things organics do better than any other shape, so that outer rim is a little off putting. The Lynx has a similar thing going with its rims and weird lines, but that is one of my absolute favorites now - so who knows, maybe it won’t be a deal breaker in the Beater’s case either. I gotta say that the weight distribution you get with the double rim is really cool.

The root beer colorway looks great in person, but good gravy that is a pretty purple. Kinda wishing I’d opted for one of those…

Yes yes yes :raised_hands: centrifugal is insanely good so far. Maybe its honeymoon but danggggg what a well balanced “current” feeling throw. The matte finish all over is so lovely

Motion really is killing it

*put it next to waimbow motive to show its a soft lavender base! Its so pretty

It’s the (mostly) nylon formula from A&A Strings :slightly_smiling_face:
