ok this thread is getting closer to 1000 pages and maybe the answer is in here somewhere but Iâm not reading all of them so Iâll ask - what do people get out of this thread? I kind of get the âexcited waiting for my new throwâ and âwhat I got in the mail todayâ threads, but this one? Why does anyone care what another player is throwing today? Is it just a bragging thing? âOh, Iâm just throwing my YYJ Titan today, NBDâ. If not, why do people post in it and why do others read it? Iâm genuinely curious.

I donât check very often but itâs kinda a cool way to see trends in throwing change
You can tell when something new gets released because a lot of people are throwing them or when the popularity of a brand gets more recognition because itâs getting brought up more.
When you go to a contest, one of the first things you do is peek at a playerâs hands to see whatâs in it⌠and if you donât recognize it, to ask, âHey, whatcha throwing?â
Whether you spot it without vocalizing or not, what youâre curious about is⌠âWhat are you throwing today?â Even in person, it doesnât âmatterâ. Itâs just idle chatter.

Iâve PMâd people who have throws that Iâm interested in, though. I KNOW that Oops has/had a 2014 Genesis, so I might be tempted to PM him and say, âI see youâve been hucking your Genesis lately⌠mind sharing a bit of info on it?â
Still, itâs mostly just a friendly unimportant piece of semi-conversation.

Fair enough - I get at a contest you may ask someone because youâll see them throwing it and might think it looks cool, or stable or fast or whatever. I could understand in context you asking someone what throw theyâre using in a video. I guess I just didnât see the point of a really long thread with people just listing what theyâre throwing today, there didnât seem to be anything conversational about it. People obviously like the thread since they post in it, I just didnât (and still donât) get it but thatâs my problem

My opinion on this thread is this:
This thread actually makes me find out about yoyos Iâve never heard about before, and it makes me want to try them out. Itâs interesting to see what the preferences of people are. I really like knowing weird quirks about people, itâs quite fascinating actually.
Also, sometimes it just makes me jealous because I donât have that much money, I havenât bought a yoyo in a very long time. I donât even remember the last time I had a new yoyo.
