The Peak in the foreground was a brown and red fool’s gold Peak (2nd run) that I had circa 2013 and polished the rims. Then I sent it to Gruntbull for anodizing in this two-tone green. I had to let it go at some point. Eventually it ended up for awhile with the Yoyobrothers who dubbed it ‘poison ivy’ Peak. And now, thanks so much, @hejjafish, I’m so glad to have it back, like the return of an old friend. It plays exactly how I remembered it - quite solid feeling compared to other 2nd runs I had, and with the same vibe (maybe even the same bearing!.. I was putting center tracs in my Peaks for a bit). The original intention with the custom ano was to go for the look of that 3rd run Peak in the photo but we went in a different direction, and, eventually I was lucky to get a green 3rd run anyways.
This yoyo is not my favorite, so I don’t play it very often, but I have as a goal to play it at least once a month. It’s a great way to double check my improvement, works like a “thermometer”.
Even though I feel like I haven’t improved at all, it still serves me as a stimulant.
What really sold me on The Don was the use of the Freshly Dirty D size pad standard and the Type 40 rubber of Landing Pads, this throw binds great, @jeduardo and @lytelvin . The turquoise also looks cool in the seat.
Nice! Was your Sovereign anoed by Jason Wong?
I like the green color they used for that. Rayon Vert? It looks like glow in the dark, but isn’t. I rarely use mine either because I feel like it slips more than anything else I have. I put a fat fat rope on it and now it’s fine, but I still pick up something else first (like the Shutter).
Yep!
Great! Thanks @Exmime. Indeed, those pads performs amazingly! I love the binds that comes out from The Don using those pads.
Great picture and swap combination @AKYOYOMIKE !
So awesome to know you are liking it!!
Wow @AKYOYOMIKE !! You made me speechless.
Thanks so much for your support and for the support of this yo-yo community!
What a year! 5 releases and more to come!
Thanks again, you made my day!
Damn I felt they did really good with the koi tbh. The finish is really nice too
