Errr, G’day. Sam here. Tasmanian. About a year into this sweet hobby. Curious as to how many other fellow Australians are lurking about here, and if anyone’s keen to see a 'Keep it in the country, Aussie BST thread" Here’s Cheers!
@Maelstrom is probably the most active Australian user on here.
I see people shipping from Australia on the BST from time to time, but it’s less common than Europe or Asia.
@Glenacius_K comes and goes. Great guy, makes outstanding yo-yos. We collectively kinda lost the plot on the launch of the Flying Lemon and I think we overwhelmed him lol, I hope he doesn’t hold it against us. He hasn’t been around nearly as much since all that went down, he has also been into microbrewing last I saw.
I think Glen said he’s done with making yoyos?
I have heard the same sadly, but I do see him around now and again
I’d say you’re pretty active too hahaha
And yeah, I’ve eaten a lot of cost on shipping to buy yoyos ‘like an American’. It’s worth it though, love this hobby
There’s a number of us around - we’re mainly active on yoyos Australia FB or our Aussie discord.
Aus Nationals is also coming up on August 1st in Sydney if you’re able/keen.
Welcome

Yeah, breaks my heart a lil bit every time I see one leave the country.
I hear ya, even in my meagre collection I’ve got the value of several high end throws ransomed to USPS.
Would love to, but with a young family and doing the homesteader thing down in Tasmania, I don’t see it happening…at least this year.
@Maelstrom @Yoyotradie @Nic_from_Adelaide @Azenis @zxin @KaKy @Glenacius_K…any other upsidedown throwers!
Quick! Help get this to Ptarmigan to migrate Down under, and we can continue its PIF…
Thanks Sam for tagging me, didn’t realise this thread existed.
Present and in Tasmania also.
Likewise. Really only use the BST here otherwise I’m on g2 and Yoyos Australia discord, and Facebook of course.
Cheers mate, still hope to catch up again one day soon. I’ve been throwing often and have recently discovered some of that real comfortable familiarity. Soon to be moving from advanced beginner to crappy intermediate I’d say!
Ohhhh, joint first, thanks fellas!
Hey mate, the learning curve never stops for me. Just caved and went back to where it all begins. Couldn’t help myself. Glad I did.
Ha, choice. We all go full circle, I hardly touch mine! 1a all the way! ![]()
I’m in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Just came back from a year long hiatus. Also in the Yoyos Australia FB group. Won’t be able to make nationals this year either ![]()
As you mentioned in a different thread, since the desire is there we will certainly work out getting that Dreamland PIF over there in the future. As an idea to help defer added shipping costs there have been groups here in the US who have worked out a group buy from Japan before. You all could do a similar thing. Everyone collaborates and gets the order straight. The total gets calculated with shipping and each person pays for their items plus their share of the shipping cost. The receiver must be trustworthy as they would be responsible for distributing them once in country. Just an idea.
