Ok just to show how much I don’t know what I’m doing I don’t seem to be able to figure out how to make it adjust. I’ve pushed in and turned on both sides and nothing is happening. Figure its just me but guess its possible I got a bad yo yo all help appreciated.
Turn the white dials on the side. If it doesn’t turn contact YYF.

Is the string wound up?
Well my dials are yellow, and no the string wasn’t wound up, but I did finally get the dials to move after putting the yo yo down and spending a little time playing with my journey. Guess they where just turned really tight, so now at least I can play with the adjustment, just wish the dials would make a noise or that I could feel a click when they turned so both dials would be adjusted the same.
