meh, I rarely care about letters anyway. As long as I can still get my yoyos on weekends, all is well. 
Canada Post has always been 5-day. Nobody here cares. AFAIK, most commercial couriers (FedEx, for example) don’t have standard delivery on weekends, either, without paying for the extra-special-premium service. One of the upgraded services has pickup on Saturdays in major cities. Not sure if you can get Sundays at all.
We’re very much accustomed to that “Waiting for something on Friday… didn’t get it? Drat, now I have to wait til Monday!” feeling.
From my understanding mail won’t be delivered on saturday but packages will.
