Unpopular Yoyo Opinions

Heheheh. Third grade stuff, my man! The internet and texting tolerates these intolerable abominations of our wonderful language for the sake of speed and ease. I, on the other hand am a crusader against these abuses.

Right, bi metals are overrated.

I have a bi-metal and don’t understand why I should not like it. I also have a tri and quad metal.

My YYR Triad is plastic with metal weight rings and it’s pretty darn awesome!

It’s just an opinion. Obviously they serve a purpose, I just think they’re overrated

if so, then what is underrated?

Yoyoexpert is underrated.

People think every bad yoyo is underrated because so many people refuse to say any yoyo(except for the breathe :joy:) is a bad one

The dv888 for example

I sure miss my rev g.
Sigh.

Maybe not so much underrated but rather underappreciated, is a good clean bind. I think those get taken for granted more often than not

I take good binds for granted. Two months ago I was getting bird nest binds. I’m still working on quicker binds so the bind isn’t really noticeable if someone sees me throwing.

I’m not a fan of bimetals simply because they use two different metals, or because they are more expensive, or because at one time they were considered exotic. No, I am a fan of bimetals because they tend to deliver more spin time and stability than monometals. There are exceptions, of course. There are bimetals that aren’t as stable as you’d think, and there are monometals that are just as powerful and stable as a really good bimetal (One Drops are my favorite monometals because of this).

I guess the best way to put it is that I prize yoyos with lots of spin time and stability; they just tend to be bimetals, that’s all. Bimetals and One Drops.

Agreed but that is really saying “I like yo-yos with lot of rim weight”

Not unique to bimetal but if you want thin walls (not thick) and high rim weight it is the way.

I personally love my high end plastics because they all feel unique to me compared to my metals

I refuse to buy One Drop. I have two and they are fine. But the more I see “anything one drop” as a purchase recommendation the less I want to buy them. So I don’t.
