if you can’t feel and tell a difference between a OD and and “other” for the same price range, then you don’t really have a pony in this race. your opinion is your opinion and thats great. but there definitely is a difference, whether you can tell or not. but this is a bigger conversation than just yoyos. its the same with made in japan products which usually cost more for similar products. the work ethic and care to attention is on another level.
I guess the world is full of uncultured swines.
Maybe you could enlighten them more with your superior tastes?
Ive been throwing since 98 and have used more Yoyos from more companies than I can name. Been a competitive thrower since 03 so how a yoyo feels means a lot to me. The only difference I feel is purely design attributes and have nothing to do with where they are made.
I wonder where this next level of feeling that even a player like me can’t feel comes Into understanding…
the french have a phrase for it
je ne sais quois
Chinese manufacturing has come a long way, but in general, Chinese raw material production (steel) and industry in general still does not have to adhere to the same standards that you would find in other places. That’s not to say there aren’t craftsmen there, but it would be objectively incorrect to say that Chinese manufacturing as a whole follows the same protocol that you would find in other countries. The reasons for this are largely political so no need to get too deep on a yoyo forum but sweeping statements in any direction shouldn’t be made about Chinese manufacturing today.
I don’t have any personal experience, so that’s just purely my inexperienced opinion, but I do want to clarify what I was trying to say, just in case:
I think the reasons were about companies (from every country) being happy with lower quality and lower prices, not about any specific abilities or propensity in Chinese manufacturers per se.
Though of course that was / is enabled by the different standards / regulations that you mentioned.
In short, I agree that it’s essentially incorrect to make generalizations about manufacturers of any country wrt quality.
I can see where you’re coming from, but that wasn’t my point.
What I’m saying is the EXACT same yo-yo made in two different places would not feel different.
Yes, One Drop feels great, but it would feel equally great if it were made well in China.
Of course I can feel the difference between an OD and others in the same range. That’s because they’re two different yoyos. Also, an OD is likely better designed than a given competitor.
But the country of manufacture is irrelevant to how the yo-yo plays.
I hear ya, didn’t mean to single your comment out lol. These conversations are usually a bunch of well-meaning people, but in it’s entirety, it’s just such a heavy discussion to have on the YYE forum
Ask the One Drop guys why they can’t sell a bi-metal for $50 the way MagicYoyo can. Sure, economies of scale are part of it, but it’s not the whole story.
When a Chinese guitar manufacturer can sell a surprisingly good hollowbody electric guitar for $150, you have to ask where they are finding their profit margin?
Word!
No worries at all, I thought your comments were on point.
I was talking more in general and referring to the japanese work ethic quality control qnd attention to detail. again more generally not yoyo specific
While the specs would be the same, you are missing that everything is consciousness including molecules, atoms, and elements. All of these elements and the elements that make up the human body are quantum entangled in the unified field. Therefore if you purchase a yoyo from One Drop, for example, then the designing, manufacturing, and packaging is being done by the same limited number of people who will have imprinted their super cool vibe of quantum consciousness into the very dark matter composition of the yoyo. There may be limited imprint from the outsourced anodizer as well, but as long as he is in a good mood this is likely negligible. Shipping should not be too great a concern since the yoyo is unseen and contents unknown and therefore unaffected. If you are at all empathic then even if the yoyo is the same in the specs it will make you feel different when when you play it, because you are becoming quantum entangled with everyone who had a hand in the manufacturing.
Conversely if the yoyo is produced in ways that are less personal and many people who have no real care in manufacturing the product other than meeting a specification tolerance and who may have a cellular oscillation that is less than desirable; well then that will quantum imprint on the yoyo as well.
This same principle can be felt in the food you eat as well for example. You can give two chefs the same ingredients and recipes, but if one chef is super angry then intuitively you will not like that dish as much as the happy chef. Also, it has been often repeated that if you plant two seeds and you tell one that it’s amazing and beautiful everyday it grows while telling the other it’s a disgusting worthless disgrace; the loved plant will repeatedly outperform the hated plant when all other conditions are the same. Generally the hated plant just dies altogether in the experiments!
Additionally did you know that a Japanese Scientist (Emoto) showed that if you tell a sample of water that it’s terrible or ugly then it will refuse to form crystalline structure when frozen. Conversely, if you tell water you love it and are grateful for it then it would form beautiful crystals!
Since by weight you are 60-70% water and by molecule count you are 98% water it doesn’t matter where it is produced. What matters is the oscillating frequency and dark matter quantum imprint left behind by WHO had a hand in all stages of the production.
Sorry to Gnome out on you!
Maybe it can apply to other things as well but with the ice crystals I do not believe water understands language as humans do but it, along with other things feels the effect of the negative energy contained in our words. I saw videos of the language effect on ice crystals and it’s very interesting.
Y’all too big brain for me now. I like spinning metal things.
Language is simply the audible or written expression of three dimensional consciousness. The water resonates with the consciousness if it is spoken, written or still in the energetic “thought” form. What is a thought but Scalar energy generated by your brain? This scalar energetic thought can cause your body to elicit movement, remain unspoken, be spoken, be written, or even be projected as “negative energy” as you put it.
Same. Imagine gatekeeping yourself from 90% of the yoyos on the market.
See I knew I wasn’t crazy just not smart enough to explain why I like American stuff better but this is why if there is a reason. It’s a vibe thing… well said man well said
The Hummingbird is the most overrated yo-yo since; forever. I honestly do not understand what any of the excitement is about. It is slow, heavy, ponderous and has moderate performance at best.
Anyone who says the Hummingbird is even in the same league as the Draupnir - has not played a Draupnir.
Well, I have both Draupnirs and Hummingbirds, and in my view the Hummingbird is an improved Draupnir. It is the very opposite of heavy, ponderous, and of only moderate performance. I can only conclude that you have a counterfeit Hummingbird. Either that or someone put a lead weight in it and forced you to use an extra long string.
I had a Draupnir and disliked it so much I dumped it as soon as I could
Besides, it’s nothing to get offended over, they’re called “Unpopular Opinions” for a reason
